My engine is not running yet however I have my dual Sky View screens all set up and I continuously get the warning "backup battery no charge" .

I have connected up an automotive battery charger to my aircraft battery and both Skyview displays are showing 12.9 volts however in battery backup status my battery status is 11.13 volts and charge status standby.

The installation manual says when "your system is charging" does that also imply using a automotive battery charger?

How can I charge my backup batteries without my alternators running?

THANKS!!!

The system should charge when the aircraft voltage is above 12.25V.

You need to look in "display hardware information". This shows the SkyView voltage. The one shown on the EMS page is  sourced from the EMS and may be hooked to a different point of the aircraft system which is at a higher voltage.

If you do have a charger connected, 12.9V isn't really charging your battery. A lead acid needs at least 13.4V to be charged, so something is up there as well.

Turning off one side was the answer.

My airplane has two Independent Electrical systems and I have been running both batteries ON with the bus tie closed and that was enough to draw my display Hardware information voltage down so it was cycling between 12.1 and 12.3 volts. The battery charge indication was bouncing back and forth between standby and charging.

Turning off one system allowed the voltage on the one side to jump up to 13.7 at the battery and 13.26 at the display Hardware information and now my battery status is moving uphill.

Lots to learn and I thank you for your help
