We installed a backup battery about 3 years after we bought the system.
Battery - after charging it over night still can't hold any voltage.
Is it because the battery is old ?

Not necessarily. If it's SkyView, first make sure you're runing the latest software, as we've improved the ability to charge deeply discharged batteries over time. How exactly were you charging it? SkyView needs to have over 12.25 volts on it's main power input before it will charge the backup battery. This is so it won't charge the backup battery when your engine+alternator aren't running.

It is skyview battery. We charged it over night. We installed and in flight we get from alternator about 13V, but still the backup battery won't sustain any voltage (only about 3-4v)
??

If it's showing only 3-4v, there's something wrong with that battery and it will need to be replaced. Is the battery new though?

Yes.
Bought from aircruft spruce beginning of 2014, we installed and first flown this plane December of 2016.
We are now about 30 hours out of our 40 hours test flight and we check all systems only now.
We do have some problems with the Radio as well. SV-com-C25.
Serial number 02386. Can you check if you had any problems back then with this radio's ? Will appreciate to contact direct with dynon support to learn my possibilities.

Thanks
David

David,

The backup battery must be charged in the aircraft by the Skyview itself. As such, did you charge the backup battery by installing it in the aircraft and then leaving the aircraft on a charger with the Master switch and Skyview on and showing a voltage on Skyview above 12.25 volts? Iitems in your plane on the main bus may draw down your charging voltage in this scenario unless you can prevent that.

If you are using a Lightspeed headset, call them. I had an issue and it was solved by changing a switch on the headset. Can't remember which one.

Thanks skysailor,
We didn't do what you advised me to. We charged it with a charger out of the plane not through the dynon system.
Will try this today. Thanks !

Battery is good :),
We do have from time to time problem owing up the SV system, but this doesn't related to the backup battery.
Thanks for everyone
