Can I see the map with no GPS source installed?

I just powered on my HDX for the first time. Just the screen, no network or anything. I have the expected red X and "no GPS position source". There is a black background.

Just wondering if there is a way to activate the map graphics without extra hardware?

From the install manual, rev AF.

No GPS
GPS is an essential part of a SkyView system. If you do not have a working GPS, you cannot set
the system time, calibrate the compass, or use the moving map.

From a functional standpoint, without GPS the system doesn’t know where to put the map (your location).
Time is synched to GPS so no GPS no initial time, Heading calibration uses GPS position to look up the magnetic local variation, so no GPS, the heading can’t be calibrated.
