Is this thread suggesting that previous versions of SV could display Jeppesen approach plates but HDX cannot?

Not that I am aware. The only IFR chart option for legacy or HDX is SA. Jepp charts are an option for your external GPS navigator.

That's right. The Seattle Avionics charts are the sole option in the US for charts/plates/airport diagrams for all SkyView systems.
