Data Log download causing ACK ELT alarming?

Earlier this month I installed a ACK 121.5/406 MHz ELT and connected it into one of the serial TX lines on my 10" Skyview. Everything checked out fine.

Yesterday I downloaded the User Data Log and during the download the ELT alarmed. The plane was stationary at the time so I know I did not set it off.

Has anyone else experienced this? I will also check with the manufacturer.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what happens to the serial out while you're downloading (checking). My guess is that it either continues as it does or ceases transmitting during the export. Lack of a data stream from SkyView probably wouldn't cause it to alarm though.

That's what I was thinking too, that maybe it senses the disruption of data and alarms based on that. I will be at the airplane tomorrow and will turn the Skyview off without turning off the master switch so the ELT will see ship's power and a loss of data. I'll do it at the proper ELT testing time of on the hour until 5 after to prevent getting the authorities upset! ;)
