I have EFIS D 100 , version 4.2-- when I go to SETUP, I cannot locate DATLOG ?
I have not updated software on purpose, as I have a TruTrak autopilot and my Dynon EFIS/EMS work perfectly--so why take the risk of updating and having many of the problems that I read about in this forum? ::)

Looking back at http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/RevLog_EFISD100.html, it looks like datalogging didn't exist until 5.0.

Do you believe that I can download the current version with all of the auto pilot software on my unit without having any trouble? If not, is there a version prior to the latest that doesn't include the autopilot info that I can download--if so, can you give me a link to download it ?
Thanks

So 4.2 already has the autopilot capability - you're just not using it because you have the TruTrak installed. And your EFIS and TruTrak aren't connected together in any way, even now. So basically, from an autopilot perspective, the software is the same. It's in the EFIS, but you're not (and won't be) using it.

I apologize for my queries but I'm not electronically inclined. I downloaded the latest version but my computer has a 15 pin connection and the Dynon in my plane is 9 pin. Radioshack said they do not have a 9 to 15 pin adapter-so what do I do.
Also, My plane has the D100 connector connected to the D120 connector and a third 9 pin connector. I assume I leave the two connected for the download and use the third? You think this is correct.
Thanks--appreciate the patience--

The 15-pin connector on the back of your laptop is a VIDEO connector (also called VGA, for the type of the video signal). Modern laptops no longer come equipped with serial ports that are "plug and play" with Dynon units such as the EFIS-D100 and EMS-D120. You will need to install a "USB to Serial Adapter" for your laptop to have a serial port.

Under your panel...

You should have a 9-pin connector cable connected to the EFIS-D100's 25-pin connector.

You should have a 9-pin connector cable connected to the EMS-D120's 37-pin connector.

You should have a 9-pin connector cable connected to the HS34's 25-pin connector (the one that's MALE on the unit, FEMALE on the harness).
If you have the EFIS-D100 9-pin connector cable connected TO the EMS-D120 9-pin connector cable, that is no longer required for communication between the two units. The two units (when upgraded to more recent versions of firmware) use Dynon Smart Avionics Bus (DSAB) to communicate. DSAB is a two-wire network between all Dynon units. Check your unit to see if you have a blue and green wire running between your EFIS-D100 and EMS-D120. Installation of DSAB wiring is detailed in the respective installation manuals, which can be obtained at Dynon's website.

Updating firmware is done one unit at a time (one exception - if you have an AP74 and servos [Dynon Autopilot], those units will be updated automatically as part of the update of the EFIS).

So, update your EFIS-D100 (which, if you have them, will also update an AP74 and servos). Be sure to turn off (minimum) or disconnect (preferred) the EMS-D120 (push and hold button #1) and any GPS that is connected to the EFIS-D100.

Then update your EMS-D120. Be sure to turn off the EFIS-D100 (Push and hold button #1.)

Then (if you have one) update your HS34. Be sure to turn off both the EFIS-D100 and EMS-D120 and any GPS that is connected to the HS34.

If you get stuck, call or email Dynon Technical Support.

Your instructions say to disconnect the Keep Alive yellow wire before downloading--I looked under the panel and there is no yellow wire on the 100, 3 yellow wires on the 120 and one yellow wire on the HS 34.
Not sure what to do--

First, we strongly recommend that all keep alive wires be disconnected permanently. You can find out more about that here: http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/support_bulletin_120109.html

So once you find them and disconnect them, keep them disconnected.

On the D120, Look for the yellow wire on pin 2 of DB37 connector. Ignore the yellow wire on the D9 connector and the yellow wire in the three wires twisted together going to the fuel flow sensor. You can confirm the correct wire by tracing it to the battery bus.

On the HS34 there is no keep-alive.

On the D100, the keep alive wire is on pin 2 of the D25 connector. You may not have it?

One last thing, when you update you should update the D120 first.

If you have questions, please do call our tech support.

I appeared to have successfully downloaded version 5.4.3 by starting with 120 first and then 100. However, sometime during the download, all the lights on the HS 34 came on. After the download, I powered down, then powered up and the HS 34 lights were all still on and pressing the BRG Source and then NAV source did nothing to correct the situation.
What's going on ?

You need to update the HS34 as well. All the lights on mean it is not communicating with the system.
