I can waste so much time! I have two Skyview equipped planes, and trying to remember what section does what has me unhappy. After a full hour trying to find how adjust the red cube K settings and to turn off the "6 pack" function, I gave up and came home. This is not the first time this has happened either.
What would be nice would be a decision logic table that lists all the adjustments and how to find them. If this exists please direct me to it, I have not found it yet.

I usually keep a copy of the PDFs of both the installation and user guide on my phone and tablet, and then use the find feature of the pdf reader to hunt down the relevant info when at the plane.

I also keep a digital copy on my iPad but the information Don was looking for (e.g. disable six-pack mode) does not appear to be documented. I'd hoped to point him to the page but could not find it either.

I have the manuals on my IPad of course, but they never seem to be where I am. Also, when it is hot in the old tin shed hangar, I wish for something quicker.

Don,
We'd love to have more easy to use manuals. Do you have an example of the kind of "decision logic table" you'd like to see?

Sure, we used them a lot in the Army. Imagine a list down the left side of a page of all the possible functions, like "AOA calibrate", "Red Cube calibration" or "6 Pack". Then going across the page a list in order of the steps to get to that function.
To you guys who work with it all everyday, that might seem like overkill, but to us old pilots with failing memories, it would be much appreciated. We could laminate the sheet and keep it in the aircraft, no more need to always have the IPad handy.

I think the manuals is pretty good considering all the different settings and the behaviors of the system this feature rich. I have seen pdf with indexes at the end with keywords and page numbers hyperlinked. For me the search on my phone works great to find where a setting is in the pdf. My biggest problem is having 2 manuals, an install and pilots guide, sometimes have to look in both to find what I need.

If we're talking levels down to installation level things like adjusting the K factor, then there are near 1,000 settings in SkyView like this. This seems like a wall of text which would be equally hard to find anything in as the manual currently is. 1,000 lines is between 20 and 40 pages depending on font size.

I don't see how we could get it down to anything like one laminated sheet and not be missing a lot of common things.

All and all, I think Dynon has done a pretty fair job with documentation.
What's more, the updates have been timely, when compared to other outfits, including the United States Army.  :)

Thanks. I had searched for "six pack", which turned up once. Searching for "six-pack" would have found the instructions. I'd erroneously thought that it would be spelled the same everywhere.

I agree, the more I thought about it, the less useful it got.  Maybe I just need to remember to use the search function more.
