Hi folks, new to the forum. Wanted to check if the certified HDX is able to show traffic from Garmin's GTX345 please? I did a forum search, and there some passing conversation about it and wanted to try for something definitive. Thanks in advance.

Not that I am aware of. Why not use the Dynon supplied transponder and the SV-ADSB-472, which probably costs less than the GTX345, and it has all the seamless integration with the HDX that you could want.

Using the GTX would be a bad idea in my opinion.

You'll need the Dynon ADS-B in box (472) for display of traffic and WX on the HDX. The Dynon transponder wouldn't do you any good, even if you installed it (out only).

I'm generally down on Garmin equipment because of their closed nature, but the 345 appears to be a great ADS-B IN/OUT solution, usable by everything you could put in the panel, EXCEPT Dynon equipment. Dynon's 472 is the only solution for the Skyview, but it will not display on IFD or GNS navigators. The 345 hardwired will, and will also wirelessly display on tablets, etc., via the standard GDL90 protocol.

In the case of ADS-B IN, Dynon = Garmin, and Garmin = Dynon. I sincerely wish this would change, because I find it hard to critique Garmin for this practice while Dynon, our savior from Garmin, is also doing it, albiet to a much lesser extent. Dynon, please consider this in future firmware development.

It is a shame to have to run two (or more) independent ADS-B IN devices to provide weather and traffic to different brands in the panel, especially since we financed the standard's (GDL90) development.

I have heard the complaint about Dynon being a closed system for ADS-B in, as well, but it works great for me with ForeFlight (and other) phone/tablet apps using the inexpensive ADSB-472. The only reason I care to display traffic on the iPhone/iPad, is the improved traffic callouts that Foreflight offers, which includes a direction and distance vs just "Traffic!" I understand your desire to only have one "IN" solution that would work from other vendors.
