RV9-A, O-320, Dual Dynon Skyview, ADSB
I'd like to see the dual band capability as well. Same point as first post by Mike S. When you are at pattern altitude you lose the rebroadcasting capability unless you are fortunate to be close enough to a FAA ADSB station. As stats indicate many accidents happen within 5 miles or less of the airport. At pattern altitude there are gaps within the system to airports I fly periodically. This is where direct 1090 transmissions would bridge the current gap. My home base airport is within the Class B veil of Phila International and I have ADSB in coverage starting around 700 ft MSL. Having full coverage when in the pattern is an added comfort. So as we move toward 2020 this capability should be the new standard. No substitute for eyes outside the cockpit but landing in a bee hive full of airplanes in the pattern going to a fly-in breakfast give you one more tool in addition to radio communications and your eyeballs.
Question for Dynon, if you would entertain this feature could the SV-ADSB-470 be replaced with a newer model that would use the same box footprint and UAT antenna for dual receive capability? Similar to what you did with the enhanced GPS. Plug and Play functionality with a firmware update?
