I have a MGL V6 radio install, which accepts 2x RS232 inputs / outputs for remote control.

Can this unit be connected to a D100 or D120 unit, and what functionality will be enabled if so?

Thanks! :)

There would be no functionality gained by this connection. The V6 is only a COM radio, and we only interface with NAV radios.

From the information on the web site it appears that the MGL V6 radio will communicate with a Garmin portable GPS device similar to the iCOM A210 and Garmin SL30/40 radios.

SL30 and SL40 communications compatible with MGL extentions to enable full remote control of entire transceiver with status feedback
If you connect the MGL V6 to your Garmin GPS device then:

If your are near an airport or have a flight plan or DTO on the Garmin GPS it will sent the frequencies for the airport to the radio.

If you select a frequency on the Garmin GPS device and press ENTER, it will send the frequency to the radio.
The benefit is that you can select frequencies from the GPS airport database rather than looking them up and dialing them into the radio. It also looks like the radio can be remotely controlled by other MGL devices. Fully G1000 automated so to say.  ;)

I suspect that the rumored Dynon radio will have similar features so that you can use the frequencies from the Skyview airport database.

Thanks for all that!   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

IF that Dynon radio can arrive in the next 4 months, that would be good for me...

Does anyone know where to buy cable connections for connecting a Garmin 296 GPS to Dynon D100 and/or MGL devices?  I already have the D100 harness, but I dont have the recepticle (plug) for the Garmin 296 device.
I think the original one is in some helicopter somewhere... :-/
