We've just received certification for our Bonanza 36 series autopilot expansion, along with some other exciting new products. This allows us to begin delivering the following products in the coming days:
  • Bonanza 36 series autopilot, including yaw damper, to all 36, A36, and B36 models.
  • A collection of new mounting systems that further solidifies Dynon's position as the most installer friendly avionics company.
  • SkyView Software version 16 to Dynon Certified SkyView HDX displays (piston singles only).
  • Resumption of SkyView HDX display deliveries to Dynon Certified customers immediately, which have been backordered pending a hardware change requiring certification.

Awesome news - we finally get software version 16! And also great news that shipments of HDX can resume. Now lets start knocking out those autopilot certifications.

I had been told repeatly by Dynon sales & support that autotrim for the 35s was being included with the 36 approval. Been anxiously awaiting, any word on this??

That was the goal and what we applied for, and with reasonable justification, but the FAA didn't agree. Without getting into the details, the net result is that we'll need to rethink our approach to the issue.

Can't wait to install v16 in my certified HDX! Do you have any info on the dBZ values of the new ADSB radar color scheme mentioned in the release notes? We need values to go with those colors please!

@Dynon could you expand a little on what hardware changes were made to the HDX that required certification. I understand the messaging that it does not change the behavior of the HDX - but it would be nice to know what those changes were.

.
I saw the software changes - I was asking about what specifically the HARDWARE change was. That link doesn’t address my question about what the hardware changes were that required FAA certification/approval.

Without getting too deep into it, there were changes to a board and some of the components that populate it due to component availability.

Update ….. my A36 autopilot install has been complete now for a bit over a month. Install went smoothly with very few glitches along the way. Had a number of very short ‘breakfast runs’ up until this week. Now have about 9 hours of cross country flying with considerable weather, turbulence and approaches (to Sun ‘n Fun and back)
The Dynon a/p performed FLAWLESSLY! All I can say is WOW! The best autopilot I’ve ever owned.
I fly behind a Garmin 5000 system in my ’day-job’ and it has nothing over my Dynon panel. ONLY thing on my wish list would be XM weather on The HDX displays. ADSB WX is good but not quite equal to XM.
