It’s happening, very discouraging to see your plane without the panel at all. Even small progress is huge tho.

New pics, and while the panels are out, why not paint the interior, and all new hoses, and wires and, and and....

Notice my new map box. Its the little things. Had to add the flightstream 210, so ipad communicates with 430w. Of course now all will be on all screens quickly. Dynon, does not charge an. Extra 1000 for this feature. I hate garmin! I now have lots of people switching from garmin to dynon, after seeing my setup in the shop.

Hi,
How Many hours for installation do you calculate.
Regards,
Volker
100-150 with 2 people. Because in these older planes, lots of work on my wiring, breakers, etc. if its all apart, now is the time. But think about this my plane is 66 yrs old. The wiring plastic is old and brittle. Then you will be dealing with your fuel lines, i found one that was original, inside the cab. Replaced all fuel lines! If your gonna spend the money, you had better spend the money, on all. My avionics guy has spent at least 40 hours on wiring the panel to be ready to go into the plane. Excluding the work done getting plane ready to accept the panel. I spent 150 hrs designing, cutting, powdercoating, and getting panel lazer etched. Then spent at least 2days cleaning the inside panels for new insulation. All new breakers, all new switches, and buttons. Lots going on here! But here is the good news, got a 130k bid for garmin! What a joke! Guessing real numbers for all of this, is about 50k when i am done. But, it will be amazing and high tech IFR plane. No de-ice, but I will not be flying in that.
One thing I wish I had done tho. Wish i had not bought the garmin 430w, wish, I would have done avidyne 540. I hate garmin!

Excellent attitude & approach to the job, replacing the old circuit breakers etc is the way to go _ I know this from experience .
Dare I say it however you could sell the 430W & still buy the IFD440 as it's a much better unit & isn't life limited like Garmin, & it's a slide in replacement without any wiring changes, normally - you probably know that anyway.;)

Wow, just looked at that. Pretty impressive, but its still 12k plus, with the flight-stream 210 i am in my 430w 8300.00

truth isif you have used dynons system and radios, with the dash control. I will never use the external gps, other than an approach. The dynon is so simple and easy and so intuitive, why would I? Other than to stay familiar, i will not use the garmin product im sure. but thanks for the tip. Got a new interior coming, so new paint job is the next thing up. After the auto pilot comes out ( are you listening Dynon?). Thanks

New update, installed the panel today. When finished the entire panel can be removed in about 30 mins, or any of the 5 pieces in about 10 mins.

I purchased the IFD440 and to circumvent the smaller screen size I installed a iPad Air (9.7") horizontally that displays a split screen with the IFD100 and Foreflight. It is so much easier to use than the 430

Great idea, after spending all my dinero on the dynon, not in a position to even think anout more equipmen. Truth, other that for an approach, doubt i will ever touch the garmin again. Other than to load the flight-plan thru the flight-stream.
