Hi, I have an RV-8 with a full IFR Skyview 10-inch system (Com, AP....). Like most Experimental Aircraft my panel real estate is extremely valuable. that is why it frustrates me to have items I don't use often in front of my face, taking up space and cluttering up my panel. I have a G5 as an IFR backup but most flights it just sits there. I do appreciate having the redundancy in the off chance something goes wrong. I just wish it was more useful in my day to day flying while keeping the redundancy IFR flying requires.
That is why I was so excited to see the D30 hit the market. Before I started doing my research, I was hoping Dynon saw the same frustration I felt and built an IFR Sandby display which could do more for those 99% of flight hours where a standby is just there.
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could use a display with the form factor of a D30 to show engine information or a map but when that <1% of situations come around you have a secondary ADI, Air Speed, ALT, Heading and GPS?
