GNS430W software requirement

Just finishing wiring up my SV-XPNDR-261 to get ADS-B out.    I have not flown yet, but during set-up in the hangar the system says 91.227 compliance is a NO.  Just wondering if my GNS430W has recent enough software.  It is currently running version 5.10, but looking online today I was unable to determine if that is sufficiently new enough to properly talk to the -261.

Anyone know the answer?

Lastly, the Dynon not "see" the -261 unit when doing a Network Configuration scan... Normal?

Many thanks!

1 - The transponder is not on the DYNON network and must be connected directly to a SkyView RS232 port.
2 - A G430W RS232 output must be connected via a 1.2K Ohm resistor directly to pin #3 of the SV-transponder.
3 - The G430W RS232 output to the transponder must be set to ADS-B+.
4 - The SV-transponder must have the latest software update.

FWIW the installation guide is very clear about this.

Sorry I wasn’t very clear. I have the 430W wired to pin 3 thru the resistor. The -261 software is 2.09. My concern is that the install manual says that I might need the latest software on the Garmin 430 and I’m unsure if version 5.10 is new enough. I couldn’t find anything in the manual regarding that... I also set the transponder to ADS-B+

Maybe this will sort out after the first flight?

Thanks

I believe your 430W has the correct software if you have the option to set it to ADS-B+

Older software versions did not have the ADS-B+ option. It appears the 5.2 update was primarily to support the FS 210.

Sounds like your software versions are OK.

Make sure you set up the RS232 port you are using for the transponder correctly and that the transponder knows to look for the GPS data on pin #3. Here is how I have mine:

Now, it won't work correctly until the 430W has a good GPS lock and is outputting an ADSB-+ signal to pin #3 which is very difficult while inside a hangar.

Ahh... I see what I missed. I set the Dynon system to ADS-B+ but failed to go into the 430W and set it as well (your lower photo). I'll pop out to the hangar and be sure to do that!

Thanks!

Worked like a charm. Software version 5.10 for the GNS430W has the option for ADS-B OUT+

The system looks good to go - showing 91.227 compliance and no errors.

Thanks!
