GPS 250 vs 2020 if IFR GPS installed

At this point in my build I’m pretty confident that I’ll be able to install an IFR GPS (GPS-175) from day one. Since that unit can apparently provide the GPS signal for ADS-B Out, is there any benefit to using a GPS-2020 to provide that signal instead?

Similarly, if the IFR GPS is used as the ADS-B position source, is there any functional benefit to installing the GPS-2020 instead of a GPS-250?

The 2020 GPS would be able to provide a backup signal for ADS-B out if the 175 were to fail or need to go in for repair. For the price difference, I'd do the 2020 for redundancy. I'll be keeping mine after installing an Avidyne 440.

FWIW my SkyView panel has the G430W as the IFR navigator so I kept my GPS-250. It is more sensitive than the GPS-2020 and it is used as an emergency backup so to me being more sensitive is nice. But honestly, it all depends on your level of risk management.

I am in favour of the 2020, but the chances of a GPS175 failure I think a 250 is fine. But hey a 2020 is better.
