Jeppesen & Skyview

Hi All,

I'm a UK pilot close to starting my IR(R) training and was looking buying a Jeppesen Navigation Data subscription, but before I do I have a few questions that hope someone may be able to answer:

1. Does that Nav Data include approach procedures, SIDs & STARs - their web site says it does, but the Jepp technical guy said it didn't?

2. Can I load and procedures and display them on the SkyView screen?

3. Will the autopilot fly them?

I appreciate any help / guidance you can give.

Dynon supports Seattle Avionics for USA chart data and PocketFMS for the UK. More information at the following link:

Currently, Jeppesen NavData includes the digital airport, airspace and obstacle information that SkyView uses to draw its own digital map over the terrain. Currently, charts outside of the US are only available via PocketFMS.

It sounds like you are looking to have Skyview fly the IFR procedures. It will not do that from its own GPS. You have to have an IFR certified GPS navigator to have the autopilot fly a procedure, and you have to select that IFR navigator as the HSI source and flight plan source. For instance, I drive mine with a GTN 650. When I select the GTN as the HSI source, it flies procedures very nicely. You can load and show the approach plate on the screen and it will show where the plane is on the approach plate, but the nav source has to be an IFR approved source.

Correct, the Skyview is not a certified IFR receiver, so it cannot command the autopilot to fly an IFR approach. You must use another certified IFR receiver (I use a Garmin 430W) that feeds it's data to the Skyview, and then the Skyview will command the autopilot to follow that certified-source data.
