I don't seem to be able to get the map to show up. As I search around it seems that even though I have not purchased a "license" there is supposed to be a 30 day trial. I bought this through Vans and most everything was pre-populated...so not the map? What is this license stuff, another $200 to simply use the map that you have to purchase through Seattle Avionics (after spending 15k for this system?

Was this for an RV12? How long ago did you purchase it?

Please contact our sales people (sales@dynonavionics.com) with those answers and they can help you figure it out.

You are confused about two separate map options. Dynon until OSH this year licensed the moving map feature separate from the EFIS, (now included under revised pricing). I'm sure they can resolve that issue between you and Vans.
The CHART package from Seattle Avionics is an extra cost option (with very reasonable pricing) within the moving map that allows you to display scanned FAA charts and approach plates on the screen. It works with the moving map, but the only benefit to a Sport Pilot is the Sectionals and airport diagrams, since using the plane in IFR requires a Private license with instrument rating as a minimum.
