I installed a panel mount USB 3 connected to the rear USB ports on my SVT, ver 14,  and it doesn't seem to work.  Am I correct in assuming USB 3 is not supported and I'll need to replace the remote jack with USB 2?

Simple question I know, but unable to find the answer in the manuals.

The USB on SkyView is USB2, not USB3. That said, it's not clear why a USB3 extension wouldn't work given they are backwards compatible. The USB3 extension just has extra pins on it that would be unused.

I can confirm that there is a L-Comm Panel mount USB extender that does not work. I know because I went through this last year. Unfortunately I cannot find the part number but they have two products that have the same panel size format and one of them does not work for some reason. Sorry but I cannot remember details. If I can find the PN# I will repost

I have a USB cable with a panel mount that failed on me. Worked fine for a while. Troubleshooting, I can get it to work by pulling out the plug slightly from the back of the Skyview. If fully inserted, no joy. Cheap cables not to the right spec, maybe? Something to consider. It was USB 2.

I have two (one for each side) from that work fine so far. Also installed this one (ECF504-AA) from L-Com in a RV-8.

Replaced the USB 3 remote panel mount with a USB 2 and now it works.
I suspect my USB 3 not working is due to it being a low quality component; they are $15 items made who knows where.
