RE: Skyview HDX 1100

I will be attempting to tune the AP in the next day or so. Nothing in the installation guide for doing this. I was able to locate a manual here: https://dynonavionics.com/public_ht...n-Flight_Tuning_Guide-Rev_A_Software_v6_0.pdf

I am only wanting to use the SIMPLIFIED mode. And, the above referenced manual details tuning the roll axis in SIMPLIFIED mode.

However, when reviewing the procedure for pitch axis (Page 1-6), it says to change to EXPERT mode. This also refers to IAS Hold, which I am not looking for.

Where can I find In-Flight Tuning Procedures for SIMPLIFIED mode?

I've only used Expert mode but imagine you simply change to that mode, tune the pitch axis, then change back to Simple mode. Keep in mind the Level button only works in Expert mode (unless changed recently). I don't use IAS either but really like the option to pre-set an altitude and trigger the AP to go there on command.

I have been testing in Simplified mode and the Level button does not function. Only TRK/ALT and HSI/ALT.

Skyview Autopilot inflight tuning guide, page 1-1.
The SV-AP-PANEL is enabled when AP CONTROLS are set to EXPERT mode. For tuning procedures performed in SIMPLIFIED mode, the buttons on the SV-AP-PANEL will not be active.

Since the "level" button is on the external AP Panel it will not function is simplified mode.

You can still access "level" in simplified mode on the screen itself under autopilot functions.

I wonder if the single stand-alone button (not the AP Panel) would work in Simplified mode as an extension of the screen's soft button ...

It would make sense for it to. Dynon support will know for sure.

Yes if you install your own button it will engage straight and level while in simplified mode.
I installed the button before I installed the a/p panel. At the time I was using the simplified mode.
As one is unable to engage altitude hold in simplified mode, I made the transition to expert mode and have never looked back.
Nothing like alt hold when you are just meandering around enjoying yourself.
