Tach connection cover: What can I use to cover the Tach drive on a Lycoming O-320 (since with Dynon we don't use it)?

What can I use to cover the Tach drive on a Lycoming O-320 (since with Dynon we don't use it)?

They are usually available for your favourite aviation supply store - unless it's on back-order like a few things nowadays :rolleyes: Would you believe a USA friend told me he could not get the copper spark plug washers from his store & another guy here said he was unable to get Lyc valve guides, go figure !

There is a screw-on cover with a gasket you can install.

If you are building up your engine and know you are not going to use the tach drive, be sure to install it, along with a cover, as described.

A friend built up his engine and left the tach drive shaft out, with the blessing of Superior. It turns out there is an oil squirter that lubricates this shaft and if the shaft is not installed, it pumps oil out the breather. It cost him a new crank, bearings, connecting rods, etc
