Transponder Test Mode not working?

I was having my biannual transponder check done yesterday. I keep a page in my aircraft log on how to setup the Dynon to do the test. First place the transponder Gand, alt, to NONE so you can manually go to alt. Then put the Dynon into test mode. The test mode was grayed out and would not let me put it into test mode? What am I doing wrong?

Did you make sure SETUP MENU > TRANSPONDER SETUP > AUTO ALT/GND > is set to NONE? It won't work in AUTO. Your post wasn’t really clear on that.

Yes, I set it to none first. Then went in to set it for the test mode. Would not work. I tried rebooting while in the NONE, mode also.

I just had my VFR check done and only had to set the transponder to NONE vs Airspeed. If doing an IFR check, you'll need to put the transponder into test mode so they can simulate altitudes with the test equipment.
