The Dynon D10/D100 systems and the SkyView systems are totally different internally, including processor architecture. This means that basically none of our code from the D10/D100 can move to the SkyView. Thus we need to re-write anything we implement on SkyView.
The issue in implementing these features is not one of thinking through the logistics, it's one of resources from our programmers, and balancing those against what we are hearing our customers want first. We're doing the best we can, and we do change our priorities at times, but with 2,000 customers, there is no perfect order to work on things that will make all people perfectly happy.
As we said previously, data shows checklists are hardly used in the D10/D100, so that has not been a priority for us over other features. Audio is something we are working on, and is a priority for us, and is something we are frankly a bit embarrassed that we do not have yet. But when we look back, we can see each of the features that we put in that got in the way of audio.
Remember that the D180 is based on the D10, then the D10A, then the EMS-D10, then the D100 and D120. It took us a few years to get all these features like checklists, audio, and datalogging in the D180, they weren't there the first day we shipped it either.
Jake,
The VP-X won't show checklists. The VP-X doesn't have any screen or display, it requires an EFIS for all display, so what it displays is up to the EFIS manufacturer.
Internally, the VP-X doesn't have any concept of a checklist. It is purely an electronic circuit breaker system and flap/trim controller.
