Im looking into purchasing a WiFi connect for my skyview system. My question is, if I am connected to a Garmin 430W as my primary source for GPS will the connect send the information from my 430W, will it also send my flight plan info from the 430W to ForeFlight, or will the WiFi connect use the GPS signal from my Dynon GPS antenna?

The wifi connect on skyview will send gps location and adsb weather and traffic to your foreflight. Your foreflight can send flight plan to your dynon, I think. You have to talk to Garmin and get the Garmin streaming device for your foreflight to send flight plans to your garmin. ( $$$ )

I just received this from From Seattle Avionics:

Open FlyQ EFB once the iPad is connected to the network. Within a few seconds, you’ll
see a message that your device is connected to FlyQ. At that time, the GPS and AHRS
data from the Dynon or AFS device will be used in FlyQ EFB. You’ll also see ADS-B traffic
and weather on FlyQ EFB if your SkyView is connected to an ADS-B system (SkyView
software release 15 or better is required for the ADS-B data). You can see additional
information about the connection by tapping the Status indicators at the top right
corner of the screen and selected the ADS-B tab.

ForeFlight can not right now - as of their current version -  receive traffic and weather from SkyView. SkyView can not send it either right this second.

But, as the Seattle Avionics email says, our upcoming version 15 will support this general capability, and FlyQ has their app support ready. ForeFlight would need an app update to support SkyView's traffic/weather broadcast, and while we can't speak on their behalf, they're a great partner of ours and we hope to have that integration shortly.

That is fantastic news, just what many of us have been waiting for.
Thank you Dynon.

I have reached out to Foreflight and asked them when they will be able to support this feature.

I will report back what I hear.  Tim
Thank you Tim.
Personally, I am hoping the feature can be used by WingX Pro, as well as other apps. Many of us are sick and tired of the proprietary approach to device technology. It only stifles capturing more of the market. I do not want to be locked in to using Appareo for my iPad.

Forgive me for failing to understand why anyone would want to send weather and traffic from Skyview to an ipad.  I mean, I'd have to look down at my tablet to see stuff that's already on my SV screen???

I find using an ipad in my airplane very nearly worthless.  The screen is very difficult to read and the tablet has a hard time finding a place to stow in my cockpit (and my wife doesn't like holding it.)  Plus it promotes an inordinate amount of head-down time.

What I would like is for the Wi-Fi connection to move tablet or phone info TO Skyview.  For example, stuff like weather info (I use Weathermeister), weather radar ( I use MyRadar), and some info from FlyQ (like satellite airfield views.)  Then I could convert the hard-to-read ipad stuff into the easy to read Skyview screen.  Maybe even watch a few YouTube videos on long flights (just kidding.....)

Disagree totally . . . and you are forgiven for misunderstanding. ;D

Obviously, you have the 10 inch display. Try the 7 inch display and your opinion of readability may change, especially when trying to cram all of that information (ADS-B wx & traffic included) into that display. Not to mention, a pair of 68 year old eyes!

In my cockpit, the iPad is anything BUT worthless. It is big, bright and robust in speed. Some of us fly a different aircraft than you. Regarding the use of an iPad, that does matter.
If you have to look down in viewing the iPad, you do not have it positioned optimally. Mine is at eye level, parallel, and to the left of the PFD (SV-D700). I, as many of us, installed the 7 inch Skyview because our panels could not accomodate the 10 inch display.

All of this withstanding, I love Skyview and the company who builds it.

To each his own, eh?

Those with tandem aircraft (e.g. RV-8) like have the iPad in the back seat so the passenger be more involved.

Well, a 7 inch display certainly has a lot less real estate than a 10 inch.  My ipad isn't mounted because there's no place in my RV-12 cockpit to mount it.  Those I've seen mounted on the passenger side raise numerous questions for me - including safety ones having that ipad and mount sticking into the passenger's space, and its impact on climbing in and out - a challenge as it is in the -12 (a thread going on this subject currently over on VAF.)

I find it interesting that your panel cannot accept a SV 10 incher, but has the room to mount an ipad to the left of the 7 incher.

In any event, yes there are different aircraft using the SV for sure - and some offer better (?) lighting than others that can accommodate the ipad's poor (very poor IMHO) readability in bright light.  The RV series, including the -12 for sure, has a bubble canopy that makes for a "bright" environment.  It's one of the greatest virtues of that aircraft.

Oh!  Yes I can commiserate with those failing eyes of aging.  Mine have been poor since I was a child (which is why I never could become a professional pilot).  And they have 72.6 years on their odometer.  My co-pilot's have 80.5.

My iPad stopped receiving information from Skyview. Now the wifi network connection asks for a password on iPad. Don't remember what , if anything was done previously.

How do I re-establish a password for the iPad? Thx!

The password for connecting to the Dynon wifi dongle is set on the Skyview. Change it and set it again on the iPad.
