Well, I received more info on this (related to the last option mentioned above), from Jessica (Dynon Technical Support Engineer).
The background here is that Garmin used to have a CDI INDICATOR TYPE selection on the legacy GNC 255A/B units. This format was crucial for the previous Dynon Serial...
Had an informative conversation with Dynon support engineer Jessica on this issue.
Bottom line, except for certain specific scenarios, use serial (RS-232) port for the GNC 215.
1. The GNC-215 features that require using the ARINC-429 also require that it is the only COM transceiver in the...
The GPS-175 obviously has to use the ARINC-429 to connect to the HDX, and the GNC-215 does conform to the SL-30 protocol, so it likely can use one of the HDX serial ports to connect to the HDX. The ARINC-429, however, has two inputs, (A & B), and the GNC-215 also has a ARINC-429 output so it...
Yes I know that that Dynon Skyview does not currently do this. Perhaps your confusion is my bad, in that I was not clear, but my question is whether this inability is the result of a hardware design issue that would require a hardware upgrade to correct, or just a failure to code this capability...
rjones,
Thanks for that tip. Yes, I know several individuals who have certified IFR navigators. I am, myself one of them. I have a Garmin GPS 175. But I am confused, were you intending this to address my question in some way? If so, could you elaborate? Remember I am asking about Skyview...
tylerpattison,
Close, and although I am interested in that question as well, it is not exactly what I am am asking about
My question stems from the following you tube video:
In this video, during the intercept of the LOC signal, just before the LOC needle comes of the wall (around 22:20...
airguy,
Thanks for your response. I anticipated that it would be the case that the current capabilities of the entire Skyview system, which are of course a combination of the capabilities of the current Skyview software and the hardware are likely to be as you describe. My suspicion, which...
There are two data sources involved, which must be compared one with the other to implement this feature. The "data" in question are the deviation data from the certified IFR navigator, and from the Localizer/ILS receiver. Skyview has access to both of these.
To clarify, I am talking about the...
I just saw a you tube video on best practices or procedural tips, for IFR Instrument Approaches, using the Garmin G1000. It mentioned, and demonstrated, how the display of the CDI on the HSI would behave when transitioning from the last leg prior to intercepting the localizer & Glide Slope...
I found out it's actually a FloScan 201, and the Skyview Installation document specifically talks about this model, including the initial pulses/gallon settings,(28,000 to 31,000), you should start up with.
I am upgrading my 1990s era avionics, putting in a complete Dynon Skyview HDX system including the EMS-220. The engine is a Lycoming O-360 with mechanical fuel injection. I would like to use the existing EGT and CHT Sensors on my engine if they are compatible.
Does anyone recognize this EGT...
Yes, that's the bit I couldn't find... And it makes sense, ADS-B In is not a critical issue, so protecting it, (with a separate CB), in the case of losing the Transponder is not worth the cost of the extra CB.
And 3Amps seems more than reasonable. CB sizes are not specified to protect the...
I am redoing the panel in my aircraft, from old steam gauges to a full Dynon Suite based on Skyview HDX, and I want to include a second COM/NAV radio (in addition to the Dynon Transceiver).
I have done some research, but I would like to hear other's opinions about whether I should go with the...
