    Dynon Comm Push-to-Talk?

If it cuts off your audio when pressed then it is working correctly. When you push the PTT button, the intercom is muted (for the person pushing the PTT) and instead sidetone is used to relay your voice to yourself. So your sidetone setting is likely too low. Go to Setup -> Com Setup and first...

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

Well it's the Dynon SkyView radio of course. More specifically the 25KHz version, the SV-COM-C25.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

The noise is from the lights, yes. They're each on their own circuit breaker and the noise not only occurs only when the light is on, but it exactly corresponds to when the strobes flash or when the beacon turns on (it's an LED blinking non-rotating beacon). They are not grounded to the frame...

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

I posted links to the strobe and beacon in reply #7. The drivers are built in to them.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

By the way I removed both pilot and passenger jacks from the panels, let them hang while ensuring they weren't touching anything, and it had no effect on noise. So they seem to be adequately insulated.

    My ADS-B antenna fell out

They charge $1 more. :) But I just found this thread where people report using the regular antenna for ADS-B in with success so I'll just do that. But I wonder if anyone else has had loose antennas?

    My ADS-B antenna fell out

But I have the 470 which I thought was UAT only? I understand what you mean; the antenna is basically just a metal stick sort of, but they make a UAT-specific antenna which is different than their standard transponder antenna so I had assumed it was the one that is needed for ADS-B in.

    My ADS-B antenna fell out

Are you sure? It says the transponder antenna frequency range is 1030-1090 MHz and ADS-B In is 978 MHz.

    My ADS-B antenna fell out

A few months ago when my finished aircraft was being taxied from the shop to the hangar, the transponder antenna rod fell out and got lost so we replaced it with a $30 TED antenna from Aircraft Spruce. Well a few days ago I was pre-flighting and gave the ADS-B antenna a nudge and it was very...

Can we get a dark color scheme for night flight?

So I did experimenting tonight. I think there is a problem but also I had my setup slightly wrong. I am using an external dimmer. Originally I had 0V configured to be 25% brightness; I corrected this and now it is able to go to the true minimum brightness when the dimmer is 0V. The problem is...

Can we get a dark color scheme for night flight?

Even with the display set to the dimmest value, it's still distractingly bright at night. There's the bright blue and tan of synthetic vision and the really bright yellow/red of the vector map. I assume the LED backlights can't be dimmed more so the alternative is an optional dark color scheme...

A question for users of HDX 10" display

The full dimensions are published on Dynon's website. Just stick some folded paper or whatever at the correct width along your panel where the bottom edge would be of the panel and see if it blocks anything. On my aircraft it blocks nothing because it directly faces me (angled up towards my face).

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

But it's odd that the noise only comes in when sidetone is on.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

My strobes are these and the beacon is this. The strobe wiring is... I think just regular 18-gauge wire. I can't remember if it's shielded en route to the bus at the front.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

My beacons and strobes are both LEDs.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

It's a stainless steel frame and the jacks are mounted to a metal plate but they are using the supplied nylon insert and washer so they shouldn't be contacting the metal, but I can try removing the jacks from the mount and seeing if it makes a difference. Good idea.

    Sidetone > 0 results in beacon/strobe noise

This may not be a Dynon issue, but I've always had beacon and strobe noise coming through the radio; they both occur even with the intercom off. However yesterday I discovered that if I set sidetone volume to 0% then they go away completely. Of course that also means I have no sidetone when...

    Flight track log

The Dynon installation guide describes the logging features in Appendix F. You configure it with Setup -> System Setup -> Data Log Setup. It is exported with Setup -> System Software -> Export User Data Logs. All of the logs are in CSV format (comma-separated value) which is essentially a...

I would love directional traffic announcements

Thanks for the link. Probably won't see the light of day but it would be nice if they implement it.

I would love directional traffic announcements

When nearby traffic pops up on screen, it verbally announces "TRAFFIC" and says so on the screen as well. However since it knows where the traffic is, and what my magnetic heading is, I would like it to announce the traffic direction relative to me, at least optionally. For example "TRAFFIC 7 O...
