    Any HUD Developments?

Ummm, well.... Full disclosure... I am the designer of the SWZL-1A. This unit is being evaluated by the ASTM. Vern

    SkyView 12.0 Now Available

Ahem, if I may: I have been flying auto-trim with an external (hidden) trim controller box for many months. It was defined specifically for SkyView compatibility and provides fail safe operation... It's the M-PWR-2AT from MakerPlane, designed by Vx Aviation (me). More information here...

    Any HUD Developments?

The ASTM stall/spin avoidance workshop being held next week is specifically looking at AoA systems for GA aircraft. There is a lot of concern about visual indications not being adequate for stall/spin avoidance, particularly for VFR aircraft. Audio alerts are considered superior but not...

Lightspeed III Ignition Advance on Skyview

I have the Electroair ignition and it uses the same voltage output for timing.  I display it as PSI on my SkyView. Vern =============== sensor={ id=ELECTROAIR TIMING METER function=PRESSURE pins=C37_P31 C37_PIN8 C37_PIN22 name=TIMING name=DEGREE name=BTDC...

    SV-ap-panel trim controller

Autotrim, huh? Nice to see you catching up ;).  The following link shows how to use the automotive relays configured to drive flaps.... And my autotrim controller that's been flying for many months. http://www.vx-aviation.com/sprocket/photos/panel_elec/schematics/TRIM.pdf Vern

    SV-ap-panel trim controller

My history in automotive electronics design begs to differ.... This vehicle was the first 3-phase AC induction drive electric car. Engineers from this project went on to GM to develop electric vehicles. I designed a version of the drive controller using microprocessors and high power 'hockey...

    SV-PERSONAL-PANEL

How about a 5% strip down one or both sides of the screen on the SkyView touch that are user programmable? No extra hardware involved, mand it is an effective use of touch techology. Vern

    SV-ap-panel trim controller

Trim motors only require about 500 mA max current, whereas flaps need up to 10 amps, so this is beyond the capabilities of the circuit. However, you could use the trim circuit to drive a pair of flap automotive relays if you really wanted to. The details depend on how Dynon implements the trim...

    Power calculations

I'm trying to understand how Dynon determines ROP/LOP status. It sounds like they track the intersect of a ROP power curve based on RPM, MAP, PA, OAT and a LOP power curve based on BSFC. The BSFC curve requires engine horsepower to determine, so I guess this is the reason for setting this in...

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

You too, Jake. Use plenty of sunscreen. If you need more info in the short term, let me know, I can provide it off list. Vern

Servo fail on power-up, cleared by power cycle

+1. I recycle the power to the servos to fix it. It's always the same servo that fails. Only occurs occasionally at power up. Rare enough to not be a concern. Vern

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

Let me respond.  There used to be a thread on this forum that discussed this issue and how I modified my electrical system to simplify the charging of the SkyView battery. I can no longer find this thread, so I retract 'well documented'. It was at one time, but not anymore. I also never claimed...

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

Yes, no good deed goes unpunished.  I'm perfectly happy with Dynon's method now that my HR-II has a ground power port for the EFIS system.  I published a complete annotated schematic of my electrical system so that my friends (and others) can get a head start on all of these subtle system design...

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

My normal startup works fine... Boot d1000, start engine, then boot d700, aera, sl40 together. However, I then tested scenarios of simulated efis failure that did not operate as expected. I have provided 24 scenarios to Dynon and will wait for their feedback before reaching any conclusions. Vern

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

I emailed a complete analysis to Dynon on this issue. One way to reliably repeat the problem is to power up one SkyView, then the Aera on its battery, then the second SkyView, com and Aera main bus. Fails every time. Knowing that, I have a workaround but it would be nice to see if my unique...

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

He was flying out of a Class C airport which requies a clearance to enter.  Without a functioning radio he would have had to perform a NORDO approach into a busy airport.  The chaseplane took the lead for the landing approach as a formation of two (facts).  I think this was a prudent procedure...

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

I had a long go at this before I saw this email. It appears to be about a 50/50 chance after booting up that this function does not work. Rebooting individual EFIS screens does not seem to help it, but rebooting the whole system does in some cases. The TX lines to the SL-40 always work...

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

Folks are starting to have opinions that are unrelated to the facts in this case. I will no longer comment.

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

Keep it on the straight and narrow here.  This is about a technical issue that could be improved to enhance pilot decision making. Years ago, i had a series of switch failures in my RV-9.  After the first one was replaced, was it poor decision making to continue flying with the same brand of...
