    Standby Network Error 1/6

Got the network error today for my ADAHRS. Checked my AXIS-9A wiring hub connects and found that one of the SkyView network cables had a faulty pin 1... Was not seated in the connector shell. Wow, it was sure nice for the software to detect the hardware error! Nice catch, Dynon. Narrowed it...

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

Oddly, i am in the process of fabricating a clipboard mount to the RAM mounting system. This will replace my kneeboard And my iPad mini with paper. The iPad is just not that great for the short haul flights.

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

Here's my HRII using the iPad mini. The ball mount is on the tunnel. My Rv-9 ball mount is on the floor between the seats. Vern

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

Turns out that use .pdf files on my ipad for checkists. There are some other apps that attempt to automate this, but nothing is as good as a black on white printed list on the ipad that you can zoom to what you need. If the SkyView supported them, I would use them for start up and shut down.

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

Search the forums... Currently no plans to support checklists. I would like the EFIS fail checklist... Oh wait, that won't work....

The SN for the offending controller unit is 001072, mated to pitot 109 Thanks, Vern ....update.... Flight testing with modified controller and new pitot was fine...

Dynon Heated AOA/Pitot Probe Replacement Program

I will email you the sn of the offending controller. The compliant one is relatively new and plugged right in. Just so you know, the offending controller plugged right into the old pitot,so something changed along the way. Vern

Dynon Heated AOA/Pitot Probe Replacement Program

Not so... My two controllers have different connectors. The old controller is not plug and play with the new pitot. Vern

Dynon Heated AOA/Pitot Probe Replacement Program

I installed two upgraded heated pitots... One in my Harmon Rocket and one in my RV-9A.  The Rocket install went as expected, but a problem occured on the 9A install. The pitot controller on my 9A had the wrong sex of connector on the two white (thermistor?) wires.  I had to splice on the...

    Engine Instrument DIsplay Style

There has been a lot of discussion on this in the EMS thread. I'm a fan of the 'Star Trek' med-lab style, but there are human factors experts who have other opinions. IMHO I think there needs to be more customization supported to allow for individual preferences, and font size needs to be much...

    RPM indication jumping

These spurious rpm variations with conventional mags can be eliminated. I use the MakerPlane PTACH in my Harmon Rocket because it was impossible to find the sweet spot with series resistors. There is more info elswhere in the Forum, but the summary is that it eliminates the signal variations...

AP Control panel - RV-12 auto trim

I am a big fan of the pilot closing the loop... Give the pilot the information to make the decision. However, in my Harmon Rocket, the autopilot was almost useless because of the constant requests for trim. The point of an autopilot is to reduce workload which makes sense in a high performance...

    EGT probe connections

I saw that others had problems, but there was no analysis of the root cause. I micro sectioned the egt crimp terminal and it was clearly not done in accordance with proper industry practice. Single crimp teminals and not enough insulation stripped was the root cause. Maybe Dynon should hire...

    EGT probe connections

I've replaced all of the fast on terminals with butt connectors now. I had a good look at the terminals provided with the probes and discovered that they are all crimped incorrectly. They are all single-crimped and the insulation is crimped with the wire, thus preventing a good gas-tight seal...

    EGT probe connections

Yesterday, I had several of my EGT probes start to misbehave in flight.  I've determined that the fast-on connections are the problem, so I reseated them and coated them in Corrision-X and will fly again. They all started to misbehave at once.  On the ground, here's what I got.  First, the odd...

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

Well, the problem has been solved by some detailed wire tracing. Turns out that the SkyView #2 wiring harness had two wires crossed in the connector that plugs into the AXIS-25A. I had a stern discussion with the avionics guy who installed it recently and sent him home for a nap. Everything...

Frequency pass through from Aera or GPSMap

Zipped file sent. I also checked the behaviour with both screens with identical databases... problem still exists. I will check the serial port configuration to see if something got corrupted with the load of version 11.
