    Dynon SkyView ChartData

As the popular GPS approaches continue to be added, much faster than ILS or VOR approaches are removed, the total amount of data will rise due to more approaches being available. I can't imagine the file size on the VFR/IFR sectionals themselves has changed much, but approach plates are...

    Second GPS? Bearing pointer 2?

A second bearing or waypoint has to be provided from a second receiver - such as Garmin 430W or Avidyne IFD 440 or similar. This new device would be Nav2 or GPS2 bearing pointers with the data being fed to the Skyview through the ARINC 429 device. This is also the only way to fly a legal IFR...

    "CAUTION",....."CAUTION",......"CAUTION", ........

There is a "User data log" file you can export that is in Excel spreadsheet form and not encrypted. One of the output columns is alert notices.

LARGE RED CROSSES DYSPLAY on EFIS :(

Do the EFIS parameters show up prior to cranking the engine, and then come up with red crosses after cranking? If so, that's probably voltage drop associated with the starter causing that - and that can be fixed. First thing is to identify the problem that is causing the symptom.

    Nits & Picks

As David said, fly with it a while and I think you'll come to like the audio AOA more than the visual. I don't think I've even looked at my visual AOA once in the last 500 hours now, using the audio is so much better. Not sure what you're dealing with on the altimeter adjustment, maybe it's an...

    VNAV with skyview HDX

Yeah, that guy on the other forum needed to hear what you (and the rest of us) had to say. It worked out in the end.

    VNAV with skyview HDX

Ok, so just to summarize... You asked a question, two guys gave you an accurate answer that you apparently didn't like, and now they are both knuckleheads. Got it.

    VNAV with skyview HDX

I'm of the opinion that David can get a bit on the preachy and hysterical side - but I'm also firmly in his camp on this topic, and I am old and cranky so I cut him some slack. We've both been on the Dynon forums since 2008, and I've been beta-testing Dynon hardware for Dynon since...

    VNAV with skyview HDX

To expand a little on the above - you will not be able to activate the VNAV portion until you have a glideslope depicted next to the HSI and you are below the glideslope. The glideslope will not display until you are within range of the airport - if you select a target 100 miles away you won't...

    ChartData Manager

"Map data expired" on the Skyview is in reference to the single downloaded file that you must get from Dynon's support site, with the current terrain and obstacle data. It needs to be downloaded to the USB, then in the Dynon Setup screen you select "Load File" and select that filename. That is...

    HDX locked up in flight

Agreed - though it's difficult to pin down. It's certainly a small number of total cases, though it seems all or most of them have occurred with the Sandisk 16GB stick. I simply quit using that variety and have not have any other problems.

    HDX locked up in flight

Yes, it locked up in flight on me - when I tried to save a screenshot twice, and once when I was pulling up a sectional view from the stick. It has something to do with Skyview accessing the wonky stick and getting "stuck" due to problems with read/write on the stick. I don't know the...

    HDX locked up in flight

I had 3 failures with Sandisk 16GB, both 2.0 and 3.0. I am currently running Sandisk 32GB 3.0 and have not had any failures, and just ordered some Kingston 32GB 3.0 drives to try out.

    HDX locked up in flight

Not so much rumor, actually - I've seen it first hand in my aircraft. I know a few others have too. It appears to be isolated to Sandisk USB sticks, and only a couple sizes of them. I shipped one of my offending sticks to Dynon for post-mortem about a year ago upon isolating and confirming the...

    Sky View fuel levels

The fuel level sensors are quite accurate and sensitive near the bottom of the fuel capacity, where you want them to be. With the dihedral of the RV wings, when the tanks are full the float sensor is at the end of its travel and cannot sense the last few gallons - this is a limitation of the...

    Not receiving ADSB Weather

I saw this as well yesterday - had traffic on the screen and was picking up ADSB-in weather but not Regional/Conus radar for a while. Must have been an issue with the ground network uplinking the data.

A little different oil temp behavior - temp drops, then returns

If your other sensors with engine grounding are stable, then yes that narrows the likely candidates a bit.

    Software Update v16

Agreed, I've never been able to see traffic overlaid on my approach plates.
