A little different oil temp behavior - temp drops, then returns

100% guaranteed it's a sensor or wiring issue - you cannot physically change the temperature of the oil that quickly. Could be a failing sensor, or more likely a poor ground. If it's a single-wire temp sensor it will ground through the engine, so you'll want to pull the sensor out, clean the...

    ChartData Manager

I love the data. I have a lot of hate for the coders of the delivery vehicle.

    Is this Traffic Advisory genuine?

It's not a Skyview defect, it's an ATC artifact, as I understand it. I'll let Dynon fill in the details of exactly how but it's been seen and addressed before.

    Feature request - fuel remaining

Same can be said for the current setup. Stable cruise is the only time either of them are accurate.

What makes Skyview “legal” for IFR?

Aaaahhhh - and there's the rub.... Basically the only way to show without a doubt that it performs to the standard is to do all the same testing required to achieve the TSO in the first place. That is neither fast nor cheap.

    Is this Traffic Advisory genuine?

I've seen that before, I believe it's an artifact of the groundstation losing contact with that traffic target momentarily and transmitting bad data up to you. The traffic would have to be travelling about Mach 1.4 or thereabouts for that track to be factual, which is not impossible at your...

    Feature request - fuel remaining

That was not the "fuel remaining" request I was expecting to see, I was going to chime in and repeat the earlier requests for having a measurement of fuel remaining at the destination. We have a fuel remaining at next waypoint calculation - but that's not nearly as useful for determining the...

Database Expired Warning, One Day Early?

Yes, of course it will... duhhh... which means they will probably delay software release 16 (some more) to add that to it.

Database Expired Warning, One Day Early?

Somehow, I think it's quite likely that will be included in a software update prior to the next Leap Year event.

    SkyView Touch Audible "Message" Alert

It's possible you have a "contact" input on the EMS that has a disconnected or broken wire and thus has a floating voltage or is occasionally grounding out somewhere. This can produce a brief fleeting "contact" or not, due to vibration and movement of the wire, and trigger the aural warning but...

Skyview and Avidyne Power on Self Test (POST)

Same here, Skyview and a 430W in my 9A, got my instruction and check ride in my airplane, and have not looked back since. The RV9A is a terrific instruments platform with the autopilot.

Skyview and Avidyne Power on Self Test (POST)

All the information you are looking for is in the manuals (section 4) if you'll read them carefully - but your display is showing the correct indications and is receiving startup calibration data from your IFD-540. Do you currently have an instrument rating?

DEK-180 will NOT start up. Repeat problem after service by Dynon (no issue found, new internal battery installed last year).

You'll need to rule out a bad switch or connection sending power to the unit, or ground to the unit. You could have a loose connection somewhere that caused the problem then, and now.

What are these 4 dashed lines on Map Page

They let you know when you are in, or close to, any type of special use airspace. It will tell you if the airspace is above, below, or beside you and also what you are currently in. In this photo you are not in special use airspace so it's blank.

    Air speed readout

Have you run the AOA calibration routine?
  16. A

    Air speed readout

I find the AOA aural alerts to be quite helpful for this - the slow beep becoming a fast beep becoming a solid tone as you approach the stall. You don't have to take your eyes off the landing environment, and there is no additional programming to do.

New 2020 GPS antenae fails in cold temps

I've got mine (three GPS antennae, actually) on a small shelf forward of the firewall and under the cowl, looking up through the fiberglass cowl. Been working flawlessly that way for 4 years and 600 hours so far. One Dynon GPS 2020, one Garmin 430W, and a G5 external antenna.

    Classic to HDX upgrade questions

No, it is not that hard to build it from scratch. I think I spent maybe 45 minutes or an hour doing just that.
