    GPS-250 paint

Miketf A simple search eg "painting gps antenna" would have found this answer ---Started by RV8Driver | Post by Dynon Support Reply Quote Add Topic Notification Covering the GPS with anything (even paint) reduces it's ability to receive signals, however minimally. In practice, it may...

Update on CHT & EGT jumping when I press the PTT

Marc Are you saying you added the 'filters' to the EMS 220 in addition to the ones on the SV's ? If yes, then that's interesting as I've never had to go to that degree of protection - but hey, if it works then that's all that matters ;) Jake J

Update on CHT & EGT jumping when I press the PTT

Troubleshooting without seeing the plane can be difficult & there are so many variables. From my experience, if you are using RG400, separating the coax from rest of the loom doesn't make any real difference unless heavy power (battery) cables are involved. Most of the issues are with...

Update on CHT & EGT jumping when I press the PTT

Dennis I have done installs on several Arions here & we don't see (well nobodys told me they have 'issues' yet) the problems you have :D What type of coax do you have ? BTW - some of the aircraft I work on don't allow me to separate the coax from the rest of the wiring bundle & we still don't...

    SL-30 TO SKYVIEW

Dennis W Set the SL30 'Head Type' to NONE as opposed to Resolver etc - this can be done in the SL30's menu. Randall Serial grounds are more important with composite airframes howevr I connect them anyway as it takes one item out of the equation if I have to do any troubleshooting later...

Hobbs on D180 with Rotax engine

Yes it's there under heading of Tachometer - but please do us the courtesy of reading the manual first before asking questions. If you don't understand what is written then that is acceptable. :) Jake J

Lost NAVSRC worse after upgrade to 5.4

JR I've also seen this problem, seems to be the 296 that's at fault. Do you have the latest software in it ? Jake J

    High RPM reading with Lightspeed

Hugh What is the PPR (Pulse per revolution ) set at ? it should be 2 for a 320 or 360 Lyc however it's usually 1/2 to 1/4 the number of cylinders - try changing the value, it won't hurt anything, you'll know when it feels/sounds right ;) Jake J

    COM+NAV or only COM?

Looked at the  PAR 100EX http://www.ps-engineering.com/PAR100EX.shtml  ? it can monitor (for ATIS info, not course deviation) NAV frequencies too a neat way to minmise panel crowding & you can add the Dynon radio later when available, then you'll have the advantages of 2 comms for a reasonable...

    Show us your Skyview Panel!

I agree and nobody said you HAVE TO look at the screens when VFR, that's why personally I'm not interesed in synthetic vis as well. :) Jake J

    ADAHRS Installation

That location for the ADAHRS is the only one I use for all the RV's, never had an issue ;) GPS puck - anywhere outside the airframe (some have mounted it just under th cowl forward side of firewall) is ok as long as suitably distanced from transmitting antennas. HTH Jake J

    SL-30 TO SKYVIEW

Bruno That's the beauty of serial data & the SL30 - no wonder most/all of the EFIS manufacturers choose this unit :) Jake J

    SL-30 TO SKYVIEW

Bruno Just connect the SL30 serial to one of the SV serial ports 1 to 4. You need to set up the SL30 in its menu too. SL30 37 dsub connector  - 1 = pwr 2 = ground 3 = serial ground 4 = RX from SV ie (SV TX ) 5 = TX to SV  ie (SV RX) & don't forget the audio -- 23 = audio out (HI) 20 = audio...

    Apollo SL-70 serial interface

In a 'metal' aircraft the Ground isn't necessary however I'd use a 2 core shielded wire anyway and use one wire as the gnd & connect the shield at both ends ;) Jake J

    CHT Problem

"I consistently get a -9 reading on the #1 CHT both shorting out the pins on the back of the D120" Not sure that I saw that comment earlier :) - however that has narrowed it down. 'ticking' noise is normal ;) Hopefully my comments, Reply #4, will help others troubleshoot their issues too...
