I am SO sick of the SA app

As one very pleased Seattle Avionics customer, I am a little tired of all the ranting going on. Granted, the system could be better, but I personally have no real issues. I find the $99 per year quite reasonable as the system works for me. My temporary patch on this forum and on the Vans Air...

    v14.xxx Request

It sure would be nice to have Vertical Speed Required for waypoint airports on my flight plan not just the final destination. Why can we only get destination VSR--for intermediate fuel/pit stops it seems just as important. I tried to just go direct to that intermediate airport, but still only...

FAA ADSB Compliance Report is Perfect!

I have an RV6A with Transponder Antenna under copilot seat and ADS-B Antenna under pilot seat. Inexpensive DeltaPopAviation blade antennas. Garmin GTN650 GPS. My compliance report took a couple hours and response email: "Requested report attached. Everything looks good." Nothing in report...

    Expert Mode Autopilot Videos

Wow. Thanks Dynon for the new videos!! They are great and most helpful and appreciated. Very professional, clear, and fun to watch.

    Autopilot training

Anyone have any links to training videos about advanced autopilot usage on IFR flights and approaches? I'm about to begin my refresher training to get IFR current and have never flown instruments on autopilot. I imagine most of the advanced type autopilots operate pretty much like the Dynon...

    ADSB Now or wait?

I absolutely agree--the ADSB is certainly one of the most useful add-ons that you can get for the Skyview display. Viewing the METAR of a destination airport from 50 miles out is a very big plus for me. Total available traffic is amazing.

Skyview transponder cert. IFR vs VFR

I just had my Skyview altimeter certified per FAR 91.411 without any problems, this from a shop which admittedly didn't have much experience with experimentals and none with Dynon. I printed out the "how-to" page for them. Anyway, other than having to take a lot of time with all the ON/OFF...

    Other Blogs/Forums or Resources

Are you familiar with vansairforce.net?  We have lots of RV's building/flying with skyviews.  Easy to search with advanced google searching that site for whatever relates to skyview.  Or just browse the "todays posts" Hope this helps some.

    inflight mag calibration

Installation Manual, revision T, page 5-6. Just did mine after installing replacement 2nd ADAHRS. Pretty straight forward and easy, couple of 360's and I had 100 score, a little more maneuvering and I maxed at 115.

    Flight Plan Question

Check Pilot User Guide rev T page 7-45 and 7-46. Is this what you are looking for? It shows how to switch between Skyview flight plans and Garmin flight plans being displayed.

Extended center lines with Rwy numbers

I agree with the Foreflight type of runway extensions. I just tried using the Foreflight feature in flight planning which adds an entry to a destination runway. I choose a 45 degree left down wind to a destination runway and it added a waypoint to the flight plan. That flight plan loaded into...

    dual ADAHRS and compass cal

How would you perform a compass calibration for just one new ADAHRS? I have two screens and one of my two ADAHRS went bad so I will have to replace it.

    Redundancy

Actually, a blocked static will not take out both the Skyviews and the D6. I have a static port switch on my panel to open up the static to the cockpit if it becomes blocked. With a blocked static, the ADAHRS reverts to GPS ground speed automatically. The panel switch looks like a typical...

    Redundancy

I have the same setup.  I share static and Dynon heated pitot with the two ADAHRS with tees.  I also share the static and have a second  bent tube pitot going just to my backup D6.  I was amazed to find the Skyviews and D6 airspeeds to be within a knot or two of each other.

    Seattle Avionics maps

just leave it as is.  Skyview will find the Chart Data file and upload the charts when you plug the thumbdrive into it.  I think Seattle Avionics just uses the SkyViewUS folder to give it a heads up that you plugged your thumb drive into your computer and want to download charts, etc.  Nothing...

    Touch upgrades status?

Me too. My "down time" list keeps growing from stuff I want to do while my RV is down for the "touch."

    Replacement EGT Probe Recommendation

Can EGT and CHT probes be interchanged and installed in a "mix and match" way. Or do they need to be bought as a set of 4 (or 6, etc.) Thanks

    Autopilot now working great

The first attempt to engage the autopilot was exciting. After maybe two seconds of straight and level, we suddenly dove for the deck. We didn't want to try that again without ground checking everything. On the ground, with controls centered and autopilot engaged in LEVEL, the ailerons were...

    Autopilot now working great

Once Dynon sent me a new Servo, all worked fine with default settings--I didn't change a thing. Left both torque settings at 100%. As I work with it, perhaps a slight adjustment might become necessary in the advanced mode, but all I am interested in now is simplified mode. It tracks, holds...

    Autopilot now working great

The SV32L and SV32 servos on my RV6A are now working great--inflight testing for simplified control is done. Altitude hold is close to exact, even in turns. Altitude capture in climbs and descents right on without any hunting. Track is right on and when adjusted, the plane smoothly rolls into...
