    Any of their common grounds will do, it's not necessary to ground exactly as per book in this case.

    Graham I'd change the probe type (in menu settings) so it reads what's expected, I don't remember off hand, without ready access to the manual, what it's supposed to be.

    Scaling only applies to Gps/RNAV approaches. A selected ILS frequency will give the required sensitivity for the approach which is different to the VOR (enroute portion) freq.

    Graham You can swap the wire (pin) positions in the dsub connector on the loom at the back of the 180.

    Leaving the avionics off (includes Transponder) is an industry wide practice that goes back decades, why would you do any different now especially considering the issues appear to be voltage 'sag' related ?

    Hi Steve, It still appears to be power related IMO, I've seen this problem before (one other aircraft) & leaving avionics off until after start fixed the issue. In his case the Hex code sometimes changed (WTF) ;) So I would strongly recommend you somehow leave the Transponder power off until...
