    USB memory sticks

I like the idea of the SanDisk Cruzer Fit series as the Dynon sticks out enough from the panel to be in danger of getting hit. I've used other inexpensive sticks but they seem awful slow saving screen shots. Are the SanDisk Cruzer Fit stick as fast as the Dynon stick? I think it more memory...

Request for 5% Wide EMS Screen!!!!

As an example I don't have room for my flaps indicator on the 20% screen. So for takeoff/landing I could swap my fuel gauges for the flap indicator. I could use the 50% EMS page as I can get everything on there, but I've become accustom to the 40/40/20 layout. Takeoff or landing is the last...

    RPM RPM

You can remove the name by hand coding the .dfg file. You can export the .dfg file by exporting the settings. Use a text editor to search for RPM and remove the name. Then load the file back into SV. c37_p32/34_v2={ valid=1 name= id=RPM...

Request for 5% Wide EMS Screen!!!!

I'm sorry but the 5% numbers down the side doesn't work for me. I spent a lot of time grouping, sizing and using all the graphics I could squeeze from SV to get an engine page that I can easily interpret. If one of the numbers in the 5% screen turned yellow or red I think it would take some time...

Terrain warning, terrain profile, color coded SVX

I didn't say anything about below safe altitudes or poor weather. But I'm pretty sure I can see which valleys I can navigate at a glance. Also notice the green valleys and brown hilltops.

Terrain warning, terrain profile, color coded SVX

I like the 500' warning/advise that my GPS495 gives on approach to any runway. However, when I fly the mountains I turn off the audio terrain warnings as they are annoying. Neat to see the all the little X's where it predicts CFIT will happen. On the other hand the color coded terrain on the...

    Power switch for accessories?

You will note that when you turn the key to start an automobile the accessories shut down until you release the key. Just saying.  :-?

    MAP sensor

I don't believe it should. Here is some good reading on MAP. http://www.avweb.com/news/pelican/182081-1.html?redirected=1 This is a quote from the article.

Lebel mode on SkyView auto pilot

I always though this forum was a friendly place. Let's make an effort to keep it that way. :) When in LEVEL mode my plane drifts in pitch as noted by Dynon above. Seems to me that holding level with steam gauges was always easier to do watching altitude rather than vertical speed. Is there a...

    EMS only screen available

Check the settings "Screen Layout Setup" on page 4-24 of the Installation Manual. Some settings disable the SCREEN buttons to force the relevant display to be always ON. or OFF.

Dual Buss, EMS volts and Lightspeed questions

Pin 1 and 2 are made to read two different voltages. I had mine read the main bus and the avionics bus. It's recommended to add a 1A fuse on the wire. I believe you can use a hall sensor for current: http://dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1321910185 The two pins are to maintain the...

    Altutide encoder certification

My AME did a xponder and pitot/static check no problem. Kind of defeats the purpose of the homebuilt otherwise. Check with the other homebults in your area to see where they get theirs done.

    Simplified autopilot addition?

Funny. I like to have ALT without a direction. ATC gives an ALT to maintain (or remain above) while cruising around the city but doesn't care where I go. For that reason I switched to Expert mode. Once past the initial learning curve it's a pleasure to use - plus you have all the heading options...

European Charts available - SkyView 7.1 Released!

Curse them and their user pay attitude. >:( We'd all be flying around lost and crashing into houses if we didn't have maps. It's not like we have signs posted and stay between the white lines sort of thing. The least they could do is give us free maps. :-?

European Charts available - SkyView 7.1 Released!

The engine sensor update won't affect the layout of the engine page. :) If you created your own sensor definition and modified the sfg file with a text editor you will have to add your sensor definition to the new sfg file before you upload it. If you can't remember doing that then you are good...

Good point. In Canada: 605.14 No person shall conduct a take-off in a power-driven aircraft for the purpose of day VFR flight unless it is equipped with   (a) where the aircraft is operated in uncontrolled airspace, an altimeter;   (b) where the aircraft is operated in controlled airspace, a...

    Pocket FMS Vs Jeppeson

Kev - Same here. I get ghosts all the time. It does help find a plane once in a while but it was an experiment I wouldn't bother doing next time. I think the FAA or who ever dreamed up ADS-B has it right. Don't know when that will be in Canada though. :-/

    Pocket FMS Vs Jeppeson

I bought Jeppeson before Pocket FMS came out. I did a comparison between Jeppeson and Pocket FMS and Pocket FMS was missing a lot of airports that Jeppeson had in their database. I emailed Pocket FMS and they responded right away with a huge update for the Canadian database. Convinced me to...

    Whats next

If the indicator is going to change color depending on the value, how about skipping the numbers all together and just go with panel indicators (idiot lights). They would only come on if there is a problem, just like alarms in the PFD. or simply install the external EMS warning light. You can...
