Help with EMS pinouts - custom sensors, SDS EFI

Thanks Louis. I picked a lot of my ideas from this forum also. The two ECU's and two power sources at once make the wiring a bit complicated. I prefer the one OR the other scenario. Appendix F in the VP-X manual make a good case for dual batteries with EFI. Since your ECU's are not monitoring...

Help with EMS pinouts - custom sensors, SDS EFI

Louis - I see you have SDS EFI. Is that the EFII system or did you build it yourself? How did you handle switching from one ECU to the other or do they work in parallel?

    Autopilot behavior

While I'm not IFR rated I like the new AP functions. I tried both Simplified and Expert modes and prefer the Expert mode. Once off the ground and established in a climb I normally engage the AP ASAP. Unless I'm cleared left "turn as soon as able" and wrap myself around the control tower :) the...

Depends on what you are looking for. Peak EGT is 14.7:1. This is the stoichiometric mixture. The air fuel mixture where there is enough oxygen to burn all of the fuel. It gives the peak exhaust gas temperature but is not the best power or best fuel economy peak. Lean of that, the extra air is...

Why are Mac users out in the cold??

Goes both ways. I'm a little ticked that Foreflight is Apple only - but that's just me. :-/

Yes - on both accounts. I'm not sure how long it will last. I thought I would have to replace it regularity but it keeps on working. The GEN-3 sensor module from PLX Devices now has an O2 Sensor Health function to monitor the life of the sensor which would be nice. Install the O2 sensor in the...

Try these guys. The wideband O2 sensor puts out a 0-5V signal that Skyview can read. http://www.plxdevices.com/ Much better for setting LOP then EGTs. My O2 sensor has ~200 hours and still working. :)

    EMS Displays on D1000

You might have inadvertently deleted a line or bracket and Skyview merged two gauges together. If you kept a backup, compare the coding for the MAP gauge to the code from the backup.

    EGT probe change?

All depends on whether 1350F is from LOP or ROP. If you're LOP then the cooling is coming from air. If your ROP then the cooling is coming from fuel. If I enrich to peak power I'm burning 40+ lph (AFR=13). If I lean to about AFR=15 or just slightly LOP EGT. I get 30 lph or better with altitude...

Both right. It's Air Fuel ratio (AFR). I changed it to pressure because of the way the log file works so it now it shows PSI. That's another feature requested. It would be nice to be able to create a function besides the volts/amps/pressure/level etc. or at least be able to rename one. ; my...

I really like the fuel and temperature gauges on the new Fords. The effect could be used on some of the EMS gauges. I don't need to see the yellow and red portions on the bottom on the current fuel gauge all the time. If it looked like the ford gauge and turned yellow and red when it got low...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

Vern If you have electronic ignition on the right, why don't you connect to that. They usually have an RPM signal wire for EFIS that give a signal regardless of the mag check.

    Fuel level configuration

The capacitive fuel level sender doesn't have any moving parts so reading to the top (or bottom) of the tank isn't a problem. I've landed showing five litres and drained six so I'm confident it's accurate where it needs to be. It does read different descending or climbing so I leveled the...

UK Configuration of Skyview, Garmin and Traffic

Any serial TX can be connected to several RX lines. My ZAON sends traffic to both my Skyview and GPS495. The GPS495 sends VHF data to the iCOM A210 plus NMEA data to the Skyview and the second RX on the GTX327 (not shown). The GTX gets the GPS ground speed from the NMEA message to determine when...

    Flight Plan Question

Just returned from a xcountry to Atlanta and back and had lots of time to play with the new 7.0. I'm starting to abandon my GPS495 in favor of Skyview for getting information about airports and flight planning. Nicely done Dynon. One minor point. I was doing some on the fly planning to get...

    Eastern Canada hi-resolution GPS

When the landscape doesn't rise above a few hundred feet I don't think the synthetic vision or terrain is going to be very dramatic. It gets better with bigger rocks. And I think that is all you get for cultural data. If you're comparing it to Garmin then they definitely have more resources...
