Making your own EMS sensor definitons

I installed a bosch O2 sensor and used the sensor definition from the following post and it works. I had to use VOLTS as the unit so the gauge shows AFR VOLTS but it seems to work. http://dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1268164287/17#12

    EMS Screen Layouts

My new 50% Engine page. A couple of new things. If the size of the arc is large enough it wraps around the label so the arc can be under the label. If you eliminate the name of the gauge it just shows the units. See the VOLTS, AMPS and RPM. These are obvious so a name is redundant. You can...

    ZAON XRX Pinout

I had my ZAON modified to come on with power (tip from this forum) and mounted it on the back deck of my Glasair. It's connected to my Skyview and GPS495 so I don't need to see the ZAON display. I'm having trouble with the serial connection. I tried a normal wire for the single ZAON TX (blue...

    v3.3 audio

Good news.  :) I connected my Garmin GPS495 audio (brown wire) to iCOM 210 audio one (pin D in diagram above) and connected Skyview audio D37 pin 13 and 31 together to iCOM A210 audio 2 (pin C). Great sound and no background noise. I didn't use shielded wires as shown in the iCOM docs. I just...

    Single Lever Power

FIO The Sept.2010 Kitplanes magazine has an article on the Lancair Evolution piston version. "Flight Review: Lancair Launches the Piston Evolution" They are trying to develop the Lycoming TEO 540 iE2 as single lever. If you have the article check out the CHT that Lycoming claims are within range...

    Winds Aloft

My face is magenta. So in the screens above the MAP is showing magnetic heading - same as the DG. I guess they should be close. ::)

    What about adding Liters/100km unit?

Canada is allowed to use the same terminology or ratio. It's the other way of measuring economy. Although here our mpg is always much better then in the US because we're farther north. That or our larger gallon. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_economy_in_automobiles

On the ground your compass heading should match GPS track when your ADAHRS is calibrated.

    Single Lever Power

Thanks David. While those of us not in the 1-2% struggle with those concepts, they are entertaining. Who is that guy in the video. I got an ID ten T error so I wasn't able to watch the whole thing. It was just a lot of dots and dashes. What I did see inspired me to take control and I started...

    Winds Aloft

Check page 2-17 of the installation guide for what is required for winds and where to start troubleshooting. SV subtracts the magnetic heading and airspeed from GPS ground track to calculate the winds so there are several variables. I would suggest the compass is the first culprit to check.

    Single Lever Power

I had a look at the V-Prop. Interesting idea. It looks like it is based on airspeed and engine RPM. The engine RPM is interpreted as power and the airspeed is derived from the free spinning vane in front. High power/low airspeed ratio (climb) or low power/high airspeed ratio (decent) causes the...

    Single Lever Power

What is this David? Some sort of cyber bulling? Should I be scared off the forum or something? Now I'm missing the point. I be happy to read your thoughts on the discussion but so far it's lacking anything meaningful that I can benefit from. Time to disgorge all that knowledge and understanding...

    Single Lever Power

I think you are missing the point here. I agree that learning to use conventional throttle/prop/mixture levers is not difficult. Developing a better method obviously seems incomprehensible to some people. I think we've come a long way from the days of having to back your Model T up the hill...

    Prop RPM

I believe the two pin pairs 32/34 and 33/35 are the only pins that read a pulse. They are interfaced to a single RPM gauge. See the explanation starting on page 7-3 of the Installation Manual. The right column of Table 15 explains the function. A blank in that column means it has a fixed...

Use of USB socket for PDA power

I used the USB to charge my camera batteries and asked the same question. While I didn't have a problem, Dynon pointed out the potential to draw too much power and affect the Skyview system should be considered. General USB ports only supply a few hundred milliamps. With that in mind, I bought a...

Hub at the back of the plane...

I believe the DB9/25/37 pins and connectors are rated at 5 amps so they can handle the servo power and ground loads. Page 10.9 of the Installation Manual for the current draws for the servos.
