Trib What I'd do is wire up the Dynon 9dsub connector as per normal however wire from pin 13 (alt out) to another pin on the female 9dsub too & then have a male connector on the Garmin side with serial ground to pin 5, GPS serial out to pin 2, alt in to GPS to whatever the wire from pin 13...

Tom Sure is, they were designed to handle the voltage 'spikes' during start whether a backup battery is fitted or low on voltage or not fitted at all. HTH Jake J
