As mentioned previously, any serial devices will need to be spliced. GPS 250 or 2020 is on Serial port 5. Other common serial devices are ADSB 470/472 and Transponder.

I have a Garmin GPS175 in one plane, IFD540 in another. Both subscriptions for NAV data only are $299/yr.

It looks like that is the SV-COM425 which is the older radio produced by Dynon. The SV-COMX25 replaced it and is manufactured by Trig for Dynon and is a superb radio. The original 425 reportedly had some issues although I have one in an RV4 and it has functioned very well.

Good point! I didn't know the Level button on the AP panel wasn't active in simplified mode - I haven't used simplified mode in quite a while. It seems like Level should ALWAYS be active as a safety measure.

Mark, your assumption is correct. No need to wire the AP panel to D37 pins, the level button on the AP panel works through the skyview network.

Fair enough on the 175 comparison being apples to oranges as it does not include charts which is the large data usage. IFD updates however include full Nav/obstacle & charts if you subscribe to them as I currently do. Below are Avidyne's quoted numbers which are consistent with what I see...

An hour to update! As a comparison Garmin 175 takes a few minutes, Avidyne IFD540 takes 5 minutes or so. An hour with plane on ground power - rather just do the USB's at home on the computer thanks.

Sounds like Seattle Avionics Slingshot is just as robust and reliable as their Data Manager. :rolleyes:

Is this documented in the manuals or sample wiring diagrams? I haven't seen this before and it seems like kind of an important change in recommended wiring!

Hi Bud, no adverse affects in about 400 Hrs. If I recall I think I bent several almost 90 degrees.

I don't know if it officially sanctioned or not, but I bent mine (also on an RV-4).

Thanks, appreciate the update and information. Is there any way to separate the HDX from the B36 approval? Not getting AP approved is disappointing in the time it takes, but having customers planes down waiting on displays so they are grounded is a more serious issue.

Yes please. In particular the COM radio in a standard 6.25" wide formfactor would look much nicer in many installations.
