    Shipping new SkyView Orders

Any estimate on the comm radio?

    Oil temperature transducer install

"Special Method" in the aviation world pretty much means to torque it correctly and/or safety-wire it, instead of using the "Armstrong" method preferred by most shade-tree mechanics on automobiles. If you've been turning wrenches long enough in your life to develop a calibrated arm, you can...

    Dynon Comm Radio

Thanks for being up front about the problems, and I certainly appreciate you fixing the problem up front rather than shipping them first and dealing with it later.

Dynon - got an update for us on when this is going to start shipping?

    Dynon Comm Radio

I got a message from Jed over at SteinAir that it would a couple of weeks before they actually ship, production leadtime problems.

AUto Trim Function with SKyview Autopilot

Can't say I blame you. It's not impossible to do, you can bet there are many individuals that have followed that train of thought (and action) at least as far as you have. I'm all for that in the spirit of experimentation, but to sell it commercially brings a layer of liability upon the...

    EGT Question

Swap the thermocouples on a couple cylinders, and see if the problem follows the swap - if it does then the problem is with the thermocouple - if it does not then you have a legitimate cylinder problem. That could be a leaking exhaust valve or one spark plug not firing, either will cause a rise...

    SV-NET-SPL - Help me

That's not a bad plan, but likely not necessary - notice that the last "new gadget" Dynon released (which is the Comm radio) carries two D9 ports that act as a passthru - so a spare port is not really required. The "next gadget" will almost certainly be an add-on with passthru ports.

    Looking for help

Contact your local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter and join up with them - you'll almost certainly find several folks there who can show you the way.

AUto Trim Function with SKyview Autopilot

It's certainly do-able, but not easy. You'll want a deadband of servo torque centered on null where no trim inputs are made (just let the servo handle it), and then your active bands on either side would need to move the servo (maybe even 2 or 3 different speeds, using PWM, depending on how far...

    Servo Power Switch - Requirement

I put in a circuit breaker for the servo power (no VPX in my plane), but that was simply to protect from an overcurrent scenario.

What else is required to be IFR legal

Skyview will follow the vertical navigation data supplied by a certified unit - it does not create that data itself.

    Connection fault: 4/8

The dynon data bus uses two pair of wires for redundancy - this 4/8 fault is telling you that something is wrong with the pair of wires that connect to pins 4 and 8 of the 9-pin DB9 connector. The system will continue to operate on the other pair, it's just a notice that one pair is...

    CO Monitor

I don't know about Skyview-specific, but you could always take the audio alert output of your CO monitor and plug it into one of the audio inputs on your audio panel.

    Skyview bus pass-through problem

My setup is dual 10" Skyviews with the full Dynon suite of accessories. I have the servos, ADAHRS, and transponder connected to the #2 (right) screen, with that screen plugged into the Dynon 5-port bus where I've got the left #1 screen, ARINC, EMS tied into, all running 5.1 software. The...

Need help with oil pressure and temp sensors.

And while we're at it - do NOT use Teflon tape. Use the liquid PTFE paste, usually available in the plumbing section of any decent hardware store.

    New SkyView COM Radio

Any update on when these will be ready for order/ship? I finally got power on my entire panel this weekend, except for your comm radio.

    Checklist page

Nothing of the sort - checklists are a good thing and I use one - but some/many/most items (depending on a pilots level of understanding of mechanics, physics, aerodynamics, and situation awareness) are common-sense items or memory items. People have varying degrees of ability to cope in a...
