I just finished doing this. The blue wire from the 296 harness (port 1 out) connects to pin 3 of the D10A db9 connector that is used to update the EFIS. Since this wire must be disconnected when updating the EFIS, I simply crimped a male pin onto the wire and plugged it into the db9 connector...

Just completed taking out the baggage bulkhead, removing the EDC-D10A, S/N 6331 and found no diode installed. Case was NOT marked "D3". It is now.

I plan to upgrade to the D10A shortly after the new firmware is available. With my GPS-296 hooked up is there any way I can have the "V-Nav" needle displayed on the EFIS? Mel

I will also add my vote to this idea as I am building a bi-blane that only has 2" behing the rear instrument panel. I've been flying behind one of the earliest D-10s in my RV-6 and love it, but it won't fit in the bi-plane. Mel...DAR
