    Skyview Bus Architecture?

You cannot go wrong choosing the Nuckolls architecture (Z drawing) that fits your mission profile.

    Engage Altitude Hold only

In Simplified mode, it seems so, yes. In Expert mode, you can turn on "Alt. Hold" only - don't need to turn on both - without turning on any roll related control. Or vice versa - turn on track without alt. hold, etc.

Swap HDX Left / Right Knob Functions?

It sure as heck sounds like it, and now that I know what I'm looking for, there it is in the Pilot's Users Guide. Thanks a million - I knew I had seen it somewhere!

Swap HDX Left / Right Knob Functions?

I thought I tried that to see if it would move with the map, but I don't recall that it did. I'll have to try it again. But if I want the map knob on the left when the map is FULL screen, then what? It seems to always have it on the right... Like I said, I thought I saw somewhere that you could...

Swap HDX Left / Right Knob Functions?

So I may be hallucinating, but I swore that I saw somewhere (rev. 15.4.7, IIRC) that I could swap the knob functions so that the MAP knob would be on the left and the BARO/etc. knob would be on the right. I've searched the Menu, Display, and Setup screens, as well as scoured the Installation...

    Autopilot Wallowing

You explicitly said "The Autopilot has the default settings" which implies that you didn't "tune" anything during the tuning process. Some of the parameters will help with maintaining track without oscillating back and forth (I assume just a few degrees).

    Autopilot Wallowing

What's your definition of "wallow", and it sounds like you haven't gone through the Autopilot Tuning Procedure yet...

Help me decide on a backup

I have essentially the same thing (slightly modified Nuckolls Z-14, IIRC) in my COZY MKIV - two HDX's, two ADAHRS, no backup batteries since I have dual buses and dual alternators with a cross-tie. I agree that what you have is WAY better than a plane with a single electrical bus and vacuum...

Help me decide on a backup

The OP stated that he had dual displays but a single ADAHRS. Failure analysis is complex, and what you're shooting for depends on the mission you have. The OP currently has no redundancy with respect to ADAHRS's. They could install an SV-ADAHRS-201 as a backup (and have a backup battery for each...

GRT CS-01 Installation (Number of Loops?)

No loops. The wire just goes through the coil - that's it.

Trouble with Seattle Avionics DataManager.... again....

Well, dang - that was it. Turned off the machine, set it to USB 3.0, booted windows, and was able to get DataManager to see it and use it. Thanks a million!

Trouble with Seattle Avionics DataManager.... again....

So, either installed for the first time, or reinstalled, the Extension Pack as described above - it said it was successfully installed. Got out of VB, started it back up and started Windows, got this - still no 2.0 / 3.0 USB support: No Joy...

Trouble with Seattle Avionics DataManager.... again....

Thought I did, but I'll try again... Thanks.

Trouble with Seattle Avionics DataManager.... again....

It would help if VB would recognize the USB ports on my Mac as anything other than USB1.1. that's the only choice I have, even though I know that they're USB2.0 and 3.0 ports... Thanks. I'll try again at some point...

    SkyView autopilot failure modes information

I guess I made the assumption that since Dynon reads these fora and responds on occasion, that THEY were who he was addressing his questions to. Not to you, not to me, and not to anyone that didn't know the answer. Why do you think that you were the one that he was asking, in particular? I agree...

    SkyView autopilot failure modes information

Meaning what? That in Part 91 ops, reliability and failure modes are unimportant? I understand that performance levels are different for Part 91 ops, and that DO-178C and DO-254 standards, as well as TSO's, even if not absolutely required, might be followed because they're good practice. But...

    SkyView autopilot failure modes information

Does the fact that it's complicated mean that we shouldn't ask the questions, or that Dynon has no responsibility to tell their users what the failure modes of the system are? I performed the SSA/FHA Fault Tree analysis on the SS2/WK2/RM2 spacecraft, aircraft and rocket motor before I took over...

Help me decide on a backup

If it's between the D3 and the AV-30, I'd go with the AV30 hands down, as it's got Air Data input as well. If you're going to fly IFR, then having more useful data in your backup is better. If you're VFR only, then I wouldn't bother getting either - just look out the window if you're VFR. My $0.02.

    SkyView autopilot failure modes information

Your questions about failure modes are good ones, and it would be really nice if there were documentation of them. A friend who has a full G3X system in his COZY MKIV had the ESP-X low speed protection kick in on him when his pitot iced up and he lost pitot (exactly what you posit here) and the...

    AGL on Skyview display?

Not currently. I asked for this as an enhancement a few months ago - Garmin's G3X can do it, but only to 100 ft. resolution. It would be really nice to have it to 10 ft. increments - no reason it can't be done, as the terrain database is in there...
