    New D30

I hate to say, but without heading information I’ll pass on the D30. The AV-30 will be the default option to go with the new SkyView HDX project. Carl Loyal Dynon guy since 2006.

Does HDX Skyview need backup battery connected to retain fuel consumption data?

The short answer is no. I have never used the SkyView backup battery in any of my panels (the power distribution design makes them redundant). I can report that before one of the recent updates if you did a fuel stop, reset the fuel data, but then turn off the power to the SkyView after a few...

Skyview Network Connection Fault - Data 1 Pair (Pins 1 &6)

As this is a new problem I suggest you look at the simple stuff first. I had the same issue and found one 9 pin connector not fully seated (and mounting screw loose). I would have bet a paycheck that I had all the connectors in right - and would have lost. Carl

    Shunt breakage

Nope - any battery only cares about buss voltage. Buss voltage above terminal voltage and the battery charges. Buss voltage below terminal voltage and the battery discharges. I simply do not consider adding two big cable terminals on the firewall a great idea - so I don’t use a shunt. If you...

    Shunt breakage

Or, remove the process and eliminate the problem. Three RV builds and never found a need to have a shunt. Voltage is really the only indication needed for electrical system health. During testing I do measure current loads but that is a one time thing using a regulated power supply to verify...

    Stumped with ADAHRS Failures

Try connecting one ADAHRS module at a time. Years ago I had one bad module (bad out of the box) that resulted in the big red X when both modules were connected. Connecting one at a time the big red X went away. Dynon replaced the bad module and it has been working just fine for the last...

    Remote magnetometer drift

Just a really bad mount location - not much you can do other than move it to a better spot. Perhaps go up and mount a bracket on the near bulkhead. 12” could make a big improvement. Carl

    SkyView HDX Trade-Up Program

Sorry to see the harness USB connector is gone. This was a very simple solution. Carl

Combine PTT with xmt selector switch

On the 650 “de-sense” interlock - this is a bandaid for Garmin to mitigate cross talk with the horrible GTR-200 (many use it as Comm #2). I can report that with the 650 as Comm #1 and the Dynon radio as Comm #2, and no connection to the 650 de-sense connection there is no cross talk problem...

PIREP on use of the TRIG TX-56A with SkyView?

“It's known to work. YOu'll be able to to push COM and VOR/ILS frequencies from the airport info page to the TX-56A's standby frequencies” Thanks - good feed. Any insight on integration with the Dynon radio? I plan on the TRIG being Comm #1 and the Dynon radio as Comm #2. Carl

Intermittent systems failures in ADAHRS, EMS, GPS...

Contact Dynon service - I suspect they will want to start with you sending them the “Diagnostic Data” file. Carl

PIREP on use of the TRIG TX-56A with SkyView?

I’d appreciate any reviews of how well the TX-56A integrates with the SkyView system. Carl

    Wind component

Other than pitot error, the most likely issue is a need to calibrate the D10A’s magnetice heading. This process is provided in the D10A install manual. Carl

    ADAHRS location

I suspect the ADAHRS module would not play well after it got wet - and that area can get wet. It is easy to mount it as discussed and no less hassle for maintenance. Also keep in mind if you ever want to do IFR you really need two modules. Carl

    ADAHRS location

Yep - shelf. This one is made from scrap 1/4” fiberglass board (fiber core) I got from a Lancair IV builder and some left over J channel from a previous build. Very light but strong. Carl

ILS on Garmin 530W with a Skyview Classic

Select the 530W as your HSI input, not the SkyView. This is a selection on the SkyView. I assume you are using the SkyView ARINC module. I use the GTN-650 for all flight plans, not the SkyView. That way the PFD is always set up for the GTN-650. If the 650 dies then it is easy to shift back...

    Mag heading on D-10A

I did both on my old D10A, internal and remote compass. I was able to do the flight calibration of the internal compass - and it was accurate. I later changed to the remote compass as that was the only way to get OAT into the D10A. I wanted this for TAS and winds aloft data. Carl

    No TAF or METAR data

Long cross country flight today, Virginia to Lousiana. No METAR or TAF for 90% of the flight. Some data finally in then it goes away again. ATC had no clue as to cause.

    Cross @

Of the SkyView new capability wish list items I’d put this down the list. This does not have much practical use, at least for my typical IFR flight plan. Now if Dynon would just bite the bullet and come out with their own TSO GPS navigator life would be great. I hate sending money to Garmin...

    Map source vs Hsi source

I suggest you do not have the serial wired correctly, or you have not configured the serial on the 175. Carl
