    Map source vs Hsi source

The flight plan on the GTN-650 shows up on the SkyView (the nice magenta line). If you load an approach, that approach shows up from whatever point you select as you IAF, along with the full missed approach. For ILS the approach and missed approach shows up as well - you can either set up for...

    Map source vs Hsi source

I’m running a GTN-650 and fly mostly IFR. What I do: - Punch the flight plan into the GTN-650. - Select the GTN-650 as the flight plan source - Select the HSI to be driving from the GTN-650 (either GPS or NAV) Carl

    Dynon SV-25-com-x25 distortion

Borrow an antenna analzer and ring out the coax and antenna. This will require connecting the analyzer at the radio end of the feed line. In the process of gaining access to the feed line visually inspect the coax and associated BNC connectors. A standard ham radio VHF SWR bridge will work if...

    Dynon SV-25-com-x25 distortion

New problem (as it it used to work) or first time testing?

how hard would it be to install an auto-pilot panel into an exsisting skyview classic system with dual sv-700 screens

This module is a great value - only second to the Knob Panel! If you have a spot on your panel and know how to cut a square hole, easy peasy. The main connection is just another length of Dynon network wire and two 9 pin D connectors. If you want to use the panel to control the roll and pitch...

    COM-425 Radio Exchange

Dynon will sell you the jumper to make your new radio work without changing any wiring or connectors. It takes in the old 15 pin connector and translates it to the new 25 pin for the TRIG radio. Easy Peasy. Carl

    GPU vs. Battery Charger

The output capacity of the power supply has nothing to do with use - other than you want one big enough to handle the loads you are putting on it. What I do: - Connect the power supply to the battery buss. - Turn down the power supply output voltage to ~12vdc (typically there is a detent around...

    GPU vs. Battery Charger

I recommend you never run electronics on any battery charger. Use a real regulated power supply for your hangar flying (and it will charge you battery(s) at the same time). This is is a nice, compact 30 amp unit with adjustable output voltage. It will run your plane just like your alternator...

    Dynon NAV/COMM???

Considering the very nice TRIG TX56A is showing it is compatable with SkyView perhaps this the path for Dynon. The current build will have the GNC 355 (least bad of all the bad options) and this TRIG NAV/COMM. Now if Dynon and TRIG collaborated to have a remote mounted NAV/Comm and a panel...

    Erratic tach readings

A magneto can put out a lot of noise, and this can show up on the p-lead. This noise can be mistaken by the EMS as a valid tach signal. The resistor helps to lower the overall signal, including the noise. The right value resistor will leave enough signal to trigger a real tach pulse but drive...

    Erratic tach readings

Try a higher value resistor in the mag tach lead, perhaps 40K-50K. See page 7-47 of the install manual. Why do you not have the SureFly connected to the EMS tach input as well as the mag? Carl

    GPS source from Garmin Transponder

For non IFR or ADS-b out I think you will find the GPS-250 to lockup faster than any WAAS GPS system. It might only be accurate to a 3’ radius or so but for navigation it is just fine. I run a 250 in my RV-8 as the primary HDX GPS source. The horrible GTN-650 provides ADS-b GPS out data to...

    GPS source from Garmin Transponder

So shoot fire - I may have been off on my cost assumptions - a little. I suggest however you do not discount the ease of use of the final install. If you really must keep unnecessary Garmin stuff on your panel than proceed as desired. SkyView will take take this GPS input just fine...

    GPS source from Garmin Transponder

You will break even and have a better install. On top of that, visits from any “avionics tech” are not required or desired. The SkyView install is about as plug and play as it gets. Once you cut such ties to avionic shops you get control over your airplane - and in the process gain in depth...

    GPS source from Garmin Transponder

Perhaps, but a cleaner way to do this is to sell the GTX355 and use the very nice SkyView remote mounted XPDR along with the SkyView ADS-b receiver and Dynon 2020 GPS antenna/receiver. Now you have full integrated ADS-b in and out, TIS and XPDR. Perhaps you can do all this and even make a buck...

    Heated AOA

The pitot only has two 1/4” lines, one for pitot and one for AOA. Perhaps they are already plumbed to your ADHARS module(s). Carl

    Heated AOA

A ~#22 wire that tells the EMS PITOT heat status. Add a Widget to your EMS page for pitot heat. You will need to mount the pitot heat controller to a rib near your pitot. You also need another 1/4” tubing run to connect the pitot AOA outlet to your ADHARS module(s). If you have a standard...

    Stick Engage Button

Save yourself some pain and get a better panel as a bonus. Install the SkyView AP module. You are installing the Knob Panel as well, right? Makes AP track and altitude inputs very easy. This module also replaces whatever you are using for trim relays, and gives you Autotrim. Carl

    Trig 56A Integration

I’m planning on the Trig 56A on my next build. I assume it will work, but very interested in anyone that has already integrated it into a SkyView install. Carl

    Dynon NAV/Comm??

The guys at the Oshkosh Trig booth say yes. But - I suggest a better solution would be a remote mounted NAV/Comm with a NAV/Comm head, just like the Dynon radio. Carl
