Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

A quick update...after flying 4hrs this weekend I believe I can say my AP is now working properly.  I experienced no NAV source dropouts.  :) As advised above I went in and reviewed the communication settings in my D100 and found that the baud rate and comm type were both set to Auto (default...

Lost NAVSRC worse after upgrade to 5.4

I'm heading back up to Dallas again this coming Friday so I'll have the chance to see. It's an easy experiment. Thanks, Ted

Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

I have a D120 and a D100.  Per the Dynon D120 and D100 installation manuals my GPSMAP 696 is connected to the EMS via the EMS DB37 pin 19.  I mistakenly wrote DB25 above but it's a DB37.  Nothing is connected to the EFIS DB25 serial receive Pin 22.  I've asked the question before in another...

Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

Disengaging and re-engaging the AP has no effect. The CDI is gone when NAV disappears. The flight plan from from the 696 remains and I've tried terminating and changing the 696 flight plan to see if that had an effect to no avail. I tried all this during the the second 10 min loss of NAV...

Lost NAVSRC worse after upgrade to 5.4

Hey Jake, I use the VHF out to drive frequency select on my SL40 comm. I like that feature. I could change it for a while to see if it has an effect if Dynon thought it may play a role. I also drive my ELT-04 with the same data and it doesn't seem to care either. Thanks, Ted

Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

Latest 6.5 firmware on the 696. Prior to the update to 5.5RC1 (last 18 months) I would get a NAV source failure message and be able most of the time to immediately go to the source menu and re-select NAV. Now I get the NAV source failure message, AP defaults to TRK mode, I lose the NAV source...

Lost NAVSRC worse after upgrade to 5.4

I'm cross posting here as I posted this in the sticky but sadly, the problem has not gone away. I'm flying a Garmin GPSMAP 696 with 6.5 firmware feeding a D100 EFIS. I had the opportunity to fly 4 hrs yesterday on AP and I had 3 dropouts.  The big problem is that after two of the dropouts it...

Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

Sadly, the problem has not gone away. I had the opportunity to fly 4 hrs yesterday on AP and I had 3 dropouts.  The big problem is that after two of the dropouts it took up to 15 mins before the GPS nav source became available again to re-sync.  The AP reverted to TRK mode and the GPS was...

Lost NAVSRC worse after upgrade to 5.4

I've only flown for an hour but mine seems fine with 5.5RC1.   :)   Will find out over this spring.  Zulu time had to be reset btw.  If I recall the offset was still ok.

    Uncommanded turns

I experienced this odd roll behavior (and once in pitch) early on with my D100 and servos last year. I found that it was due to the roll and pitch servos going into slip and the EFIS not being able to correct quickly enough. After changing my pushrod positions and relieving some of the...

Nav Source Dropouts - EMS D120 Aux Serial Input?

I'm trying to cover all the bases in trying to troubleshoot and finally get this resolved. It seems like even a couple of seconds of NMEA delay shouldn't cause the AP to drop out. I would think that the fail over to track mode should take at least several seconds interrupt but then I have no...

Nav Source Dropouts - EMS D120 Aux Serial Input?

After flying the weekend before last with the V6.1 696 update I found my AP returned to the random lost NAV source every half hr or so. I have a D100 and D120 and I use the EMS Aux Serial receive line as the serial input to the system as opposed to the EFIS serial input (per Dynon...

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

Hi SteveL, couple of quick questions. Did you experience dropouts prior to V6.0 of the 696 software (that Garmin hosed up)? Do you feed your GPS serial to your D100 via the Pin 22 (yellow) connection? I have an EMS-D120 along with my D100 therefore I feed my serial input to the system via...

Dynon needs your help: 5.4 GPS Nav Source Dropouts

After flying this weekend with the V6.1 696 update and finding my AP has returned to the normal lost source every half hr or so I started looking to capture the NMEA data.  I have a D100 and D120 and I use the Aux Serial receive line via the EMS as the serial input to the EFIS instead of using...

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

I flew for an hour today -- about 45 mins with AP. Did have one lost NAV source dropout but not like with the V6 Garmin firmware. 6.1 apparently does fix the 696 but it appears I'll still see the dropouts at about the same interval. I didn't have a chance to get a serial connection ready for...

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

Good news! I'm going to get out next weekend and try mine out. I am setting up to capture NMEA data per Dynon's request in case I do get a NAV to TRK switch-over. I'm hopeful maybe 6.1 fixed the new issue as well as the old drop-out issue.

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

Excellent, thanks.  Hopefully that'll fix the Garmin end of the lost source problem  :)

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

Thanks.  Yep, this is exactly what I've experienced.  696 works fine but my D100 (and my E-04 ELT I'm sure  :( ) failed regularly due to corrupt NMEA output I'm figuring. I guess I'll wait a week or two to see if Garmin gets a rev out. I would like to see a good fix from Dynon for the ages old...

Lost Nav Source with Garmin 696 ver 6.0

Wish I had found this thread last Wed  :'( I updated last Wed and just returned from a roundtrip Houston to Pensacola.  Had to hand fly other than pitch.  My D100/696 worked fine in pitch but roll kept dropping out every few mins.  What a PITA. Does Garmin have an ETA on the 6.0 fix or are they...
