To minimize any confusion, DDL = Dynon Diagnostic FILE (DDF). One of our team thinks of this diagnostic file as a Dynon Diagnostic Log :D but the actual name of the operation in SkyView is EXPORT DYNON DIAGNOSTIC FILE, thus the correct abbreviation is DDF.

<snip> This break thru eliminates our dependency on gathering DDLs from you folks running 14.0.5 to proceed with our analysis. Having said that, do send DDLs in if you see a System Event 3. We will use that data to be sure our yet-to-be solution fits all of the data to build confidence that we found the problem you are specifically encountering.

Steve:

If you do see this happen again, in addition to the screenshot, we'd also very much like to get a Dynon Diagnostic File after that flight.

OK...if I see it again, I'll bring up the map page and grab a screenshot, and attempt to wait it out and see what happens, as well.

BTW, I only bring this up because it's a behavior I have not seen at all in nearly 400 hours of flight, but occurred immediately after upgrading to the very latest software version (and I mean *immediately prior, as in I upgraded Friday after flying, then this occurred at the beginning of the very next flight), so I get...suspicious. :)

I'm down for annual condition inspection until this weekend, but will definitely grab a diagnostic file for you if (when) it happens again.

Adding to the system failure discussion, I don't see, in any of the messages dealing with Skyview system failures, one such as the one I'm experiencing.  I have an older SV-D1000 that experienced a total failure, a total white screen upon power application.  Sent to Dynon for repair under RMA20832.  The unit was repaired (replaced mother board) and subsequently reinstalled in my RV-9A.  I flew several flights without incident(version 13 software), then experienced a failure to load past the Dynon logo.  I shut down the system and attempted a reboot with same results.  Tried again the next day and the system loaded normally. Flew a flight without any system anomalies.  Loaded V14 flew a flight without any issues.  Next attempt to fly the system failed to load past the Dynon logo.  I then loaded the public test version of 14.  Attempted to fly yesterday but Skyview only loaded to the Dynon logo.  Downloaded the diagnostic and sent to Dynon.  Wondering if this is the same issue that others are having or something all together different?

Frank - apologies that you're still having intermittent operation of your SkyView display after the repair. In the confusion of the v14.0.x.xxxx Screen Freeze issue, in your individual email correspondence to us, it was overlooked that your symptoms happened in the aftermath of a repair, not NEW symptoms as a result of having loaded v14.0.x.xxxx. Look for an email from us with next steps.

We have a new test version of software that fixes the unresponsive display problem on all our test systems here at Dynon! Go get the new version here:
http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/support_software_SkyView_test.html

The only difference you will notice is that the heading line that is drawn on the map when you are changing the heading is solid rather than dashed.

I noticed some AP disconnect comments in this thread. We do not believe this release will fix that but are working on it.

I just have to say...although I haven't had a failure on my system (probably because not in the serial number range for touchscreens that is affected), I am *DAMNED IMPRESSED* with Dynon's response to this issue. Having worked in consumer electronics, I know how hard it can be to diagnose and fix intermittent problems that customers report, so the rapid response, great communication and now (apparently) upcoming fix are absolutely outstanding.

Things like this make me one happy customer, glad that I went the Dynon route and just incredibly impressed with the dedication and hard work the Dynon team is showing here.

Well done! Math ga-riribh!

I have not upgraded to V14 (yet) but you can add me to the list of impressed customers for DYNON's response. I am so glad I went the DYNON SkyView route with my EFIS selection.

I ran into problems updating to 3609.  Dual 7" skyviews.  The first Skyview updated with no problem.  The next stalled.  I have attached a screenshot.  I had to turn off the power at this point after waiting a 1/2 hour.  It started back up after the power cycle.  It stated the monthly AVDATA was out of date....so I don't know if the software update completed in full.  What is RTIO?

I had this exact failure on the original 14.0.0 load. Power cycled and it finished. Been flying it a few hours with no issues.

RTIO is "Real Time Input / Output". Basically a fast ("Realtime") communications channel inside SkyView.

Just got back from a trip to the Bahamas, approx 23 hours and had zero issues running 14.0.5. My screens are # 3001 and 3002. EMS, AP, Transponder, ADSB all worked perfectly the entire trip.
Since I don't seem to be having any issues I think I'll wait to load the final version 14 when ready.

Thanks for a great system.

Any update on this issue? Should those of us that haven't updated to V14 do it now? I have 2 D700's with SN's 1516 and 2467.

Update:

We have had more than 100 downloads of v14.0.7.3621, and have not received any (new) reports of Screen Freezes and AP Disconnects / Brief Red Xs.

Our recommendations:
* If you have a version of v14.0.x.xxxx earlier than v14.0.7.3621 on your SkyView system, you SHOULD update to v14.0.7.3621.
* If you have v13.0.3 on your SkyView system, then you should not update until we release v14.1.x.xxxx (or later).

We will likely release v14.1.x.xxxx (or later) within the next two weeks, which will include these, and other, improvements.
