I do have the proper crimpers but the problems I have seen (just a few) is with the sliding connection and not the crimp portion.
I can unhook and reslide the connection and the issue goes away for a while- sometimes to return.
You have covered the first requirement - proper crimping tool.
What of the second - quality connecters?
Good quality connectors will have a tight fit, when pressing together and require some effort to disconnect. Repeated connect/disconnect and poor quality connectors, will tend to be looser . The easiest/quickest fix is a CAREFUL squeeze, with pliers, the female connector - I usually go for the side squeeze first. This has the effect of slightly curling the fitting, improving the clamping pressure & reducing the internal width very slightly. 😈

That's NOT them & 'blue' is usually for ~18-16 awg ? Thermocouple wiring that Dynon uses are in the 22-24awg ? range & need the 'red' ones to give a better outcome.
Ps - I never have never used the supplied ones until just recently on a local RV- the 'new' Dynon spades are better than previously supplied, we'll see (1 aircraft so far).:)

They’ll work for sure however more $$$ and you have to cut off the connectors on the supplied probes = a lot more work too. I usually go for cost & labour effective solutions 😉

Of the three legs of the stool (faster, better, cheaper), I put better above the other other two.

Just curious. Is there any way to safety wire those screws? Lots of vibration where they're going.
I guess a drop of loctite may alleviate this concern .

I like the look of the SMPW-CC connectors. They look like they can be screwed down/together, through the circular hole. If so this would add considerably to their security. 😈
