Thanks guys for the input. I think I will try the in-flight calc and then accept whatever I get.  I accept hand flying to a couple of degrees doesn't matter but I also have autopilot to consider and in addition it will also affect the winds aloft indication I think shown on the SV.

The issue was spurious readings, like minus 85degrees! I did as you suggested and earthed the sensor body and hey-ho I now get correct readings. It is obvious really I suppose but someone else pointing out the obvious sometimes is all that it takes.... :) Thanks again for the help. Alan
