    gtn650 coupled to SV Autopilot

If you manually select the GTN-650 mode instead of letting it automatically shift from GPS to ILS/LOC, you should solve your problem. This is a configuration setting. There as as many ways to manage the transition from GPS to VOR (ILS and LOC approach) as there are pilots. I tend to load the...

FAA ADSB Compliance Report is Perfect!

For my RV-10, the ADS-B receive antenna is mounted on the belly in the tail cone, to the left of the batteries. The Dynon ADS-B receiver is mounted there as well - so only a foot or so of RG-400 cable to connect the two. Transponder antenna is located under the right seat. Carl

FAA ADSB Compliance Report is Perfect!

I have the SkyView system and GTN-650 as well. I just sent a request for an ADS-B out compliance report to 9-AWA-AFS-300-ADSB-AvionicsCheck@faa.gov with my tail number. It came back with a full report (passed) in just a few hours. Carl

Seattle ChartData Device Exp.Date now says Unknown

Last month I had the same problem. SA put out a revision to the Data Manager that fixed the problem. Make sure you are running the latest Data Manager version (5.1.6.0516). If this is the first download after upgrading to SkyView version 13 expect the download to be abnormally long. If still...

    SkyView and Pmags

I sent a note to the good folks at e-Mag on this. Here is the response from the guy that designed the p-Mag: "I am not sure from your link what you are monitoring at the P-Mag connector but I assume it is voltage at the pin#5 (power). This will indicate available aircraft power only...

    GPS Assist

Thanks for the response. What about the other question on what would happen to attitude indication for a partially blocked pitot? Thanks, Carl

    GPS Assist

Now that the good folks at Dynon are back from the long weekend, resubmitting my query. Carl

Three 10" touch screens.... or a Garmin GTN?

If you plan on flying IFR at any point, then there is only one answer, two SkyView displays and a GTN. Get the Dynon radio for comm #2 and the SkyView GPS for nav #2. No reason to get the GTN750 over the GTN650 as the SkyView provides a far superior display over both and with the Dynon ARINC...

    GPS Assist

I note the SkyView documentation says airspeed input to the attitude algorithm will shift to GPS ground speed if the airspeed input goes to zero. What happens to attitude indication with only a partially blocked pitot - such that indicated airspeed is abnormally low or erratic? Is there a...

    Battery Drain.

"Everything turned off" is very different than "master switch off". If the master switch(es) were indeed off and you had no "always hot" loads on the battery, you had a battery going south that took a few months to finally die. Carl

I am SO sick of the SA app

I got a note yesterday from Steve at Seattle Avionics on the issue: Steve Podradchik, Aug 21, 14:57: Hi Carl, We have just released a new version of the Data Manager that fixes a problem that affected a small number of users, probably including you. Please click 'Update Now' for the new...

I am SO sick of the SA app

Just sent another note to Seattle Avionics as they have not responded to my note from yesterday. I have the same issue as the others (screen shot attached)

I am SO sick of the SA app

Upgraded last month to the 13.0 version. Now it's been two days with the computer running full time to get the latest update from Seattle Avionics. Still no joy. I've cleared the old files and everything else I could think of and still get multiple "“Problem downloading XYZ. Will retry...

    SV-GPS-2020; the next step

Tom, I agree that the step to make the SkyView IFR approach certified is too heavy a lift. Considering the documentation Dynon went through to get the GPS-2020 approved for ADSB out, and that IFR enroute database is already in the SkyView, what are the barriers (besides paperwork and dragging...

    SV-GPS-2020; the next step

Tom - I was surprised by the lack of comment/interest. Perhaps everyone is resigned to the $$$ Garmin box.

    Airspeed

End the guess work. Build a simple manometer. It comes in handy for static leak checks as well. One option attached. Make sure you cove up the pitot drain hole when doing the check.

    SV-GPS-2020; the next step

Nice talking with you guys at Oshkosh. To follow up on the discussion, perhaps there is a path to have the Dynon SkyView, using the GPS-2020, meet TSO certification for enroute IFR. Considering you all are already using the same navigation database as Garmin and others for enroute, from my...

    Dynon/AFS Oshkosh 2015: SV-GPS-2020 and much more!

Great for Dynon and great for all of us to have an option to the Garmin monopoly. Any plans for an exchange deal for current 250 receiver owners? Carl

Request: CHT/EGT widget - graph CHTs!

Fully agree the absolute value of EGT is not relevant, only EGT as it relates to peak temperature. I fly LOP 90% of the time and find the current EGT Lean display a nice tool to make sure all cylinders are LOP and to verify cylinder injector balance is being maintained. CHT readout is...

    Skyview Backup Battery weak

Thanks Ian - your engineering logic is sound and I agree having the battery inline when using these cheap chargers goes a long way toward avoiding trouble. Your PC-680 example is good but it does not account for leaving a battery on a junk charger for extended periods of time. As the charger...
