basic navigations Skyview cannot cope with

Not sure I understand mixing VFR and IFR procedures. If IFR the HSI is displaying the appropriate approach. If you have an ARINC set up the moving map is also displaying the approach - a nice aid if directed to intercept. If VFR and vectored to intercept base or final then the moving map...

    Heated Pitot SB

Dynon - any updates on this SB?

    Resistive fuel level sensors

Recommend not using analog gauges attached to the same senders as they will totally screw up the input to the SkyView and not be nearly as accurately as the SkyView EMS fuel level readout anyway. As (I assume) you are using the SkyView fuel totalizer feature, I propose there is no practical...

    Resistive fuel level sensors

Look at page 3-13 of the current install manual. Once you enter this calibration wizard it will walk you through the steps. This was amazingly easy compared to what I had to do with my old Grand Rapids EIS. Carl

    Seattle Avionics DataManager crashes Win7-64bit

I've have experienced the same problem. Last month I contacted Seattle Avionics and it took two sessions with them doing remote access to fix. This month the same exact problem is back. I deleted all the downloads a couple of times and removed and reloaded the Data Manager but the problem is...

    Resistive fuel level sensors

The EMS install instructions tell you how to wire the fuel senders. If the calibration is done carefully your float fuel level indication will typically be within a gallon of actual. Here is how I do this: - Replace your inline fuel filter with a temporary plastic "see through" filter from...

    Location for SV-250-GPS

Last two RVs (8A and 10) have Dynon and Garmin GPS receivers mounted on the top of the glare shield with a piece of dark gray cloth on top to cut down the glare off the glass. No issues. The RV-10 cabin top is all fiberglass so your results should be similar. If you have a carbon fiber plane...

    SV-Arinc-429 and Garmin 650 or 430

The ARINC feeds both GPS and NAV data from the GTN-650 to the SkyView. It also provides flight plan feed from the 650 to the SkyView. I normally run with HSI feed from the GTN-650 GPS, HSI bearing #2 coming from the GTN-650 NAV, and the GTN-650 flight plan displayed on the SkyView map. I put...

SV Comm noticeably weaker than removed king KY197

I noted on my install that the default mic gain setting was much too low. Increasing it made the Dynon radio work just like the Garmin (Comm #1). The instructions tell you how to change the mic gain. Carl

    TSO-C146A GPS (WAAS)

Just to make my point clear, many are hoping Dynon will jump in and produce an alternative to the certified for GPS en-route and approach, but grossly overpriced (initial cost and update subscription) Garmin offerings. Shoot fire - start with updated versions of the superb UPS SL-30 NAV/COM...

Jake - I sent you a message on my GTN-650 issues. Carl

    VOR input to HSI display

I should have known Garmin would screw up the very nice Apollo SL-30 with their replacement nav/com. I guess that way you are force to buy a second nav/com from them. For the next airplane I'm hopeful we have other options beside Garmin. The GTN-650 has been a problem since first install. It...

    VOR input to HSI display

In the first airplane (RV-8A) I had an SL-30 feeding a D10A. I really liked the D10A HSI display where the SL-30 primary VOR drove the course deviation needles and the SL-30 secondary VOR was displayed as a bearing pointer to the VOR in a different color (yellow if memory serves). I now have...

    GTN-650 as Primary Nav Source

I have 160 hours on the GTN-650 and dual SkyView install in an RV-10. I just finished (finally) my Instrument ticket as well so I have a lot of recent time on the GTN-650. First - the GTN-650 has been back to Garmin twice already - and on my dime as the guarantee ran out just before the first...

    IO-540 P-lead resistors (repost)

I used the 30K resistors per the installation manual. No issues at 150 hours on a IO-540-D4A5.

    SkyView 7.0 EMS issue

Just to close the loop, the problem was the manifold sensor decided to go bad right when I loaded 7.0. New sensor installed and all is well. For the record, 140 hours, 2 EGT probe and 1 Manifold Pressure sensor failures.

    Fuel level configuration

For what it's worth - I've used the standard float senders for two RVs. With the Dynon, calibration of the senders is dirt simple and the output is accurate to within a gallon. Keep in mind when you install the sender most will not have an arm movement wide enough to go from empty to full...

    SkyView 7.0 EMS issue

I sent the sensor pin resistance measurements in to tech support. They were about what they read but there is no other path forward other than replacing the sensor. I ordered one today. Carl

    SkyView 7.0 EMS issue

No custom manifold pressure sensor defined. I just ran the engine. MP varied between 32" at low idle and 34" at fast idle. MP pegged high (47+")before engine start and after engine shutdown. Atmospheric pressure was 30.3". Shall I assume I just have a bad MP sender? Are these indications...
