    SkyView 7.0 EMS issue

Just loaded 7.0 onto both SkyView displays. All seems well other than manifold pressure now indicates 47.8" with the engine off. This is a stock Lycoming IO-540. I did use the "easy install" so I'm wondering if the manifold pressure sender setting changed. Carl

    DC SFRA

I loaded the "TRF_Active_Light.  Here is a screen shot of the DC SFRA.  This is a big improvement over the big red blob.

    Autopilot turns on by itself

Yep - you called it. I had the door switch in parallel with the GP input #1 and the EMS. Fixed. Thanks for the help, Carl

    Autopilot turns on by itself

I did a series of tests tonight. Each time the engine is off, the cabin door is open, and I let both displays come fully up. The AP Status area is blank. As soon as I close the cabin door, the AP engages and the bar reads "wings level". I repeated this 3 times, each time the exact same...

    Autopilot turns on by itself

I'm running dual 10" Skyview displays with 6.0 software. 1 out of 2 times, just after the Skyview starts up but before engine start, the autopilot turns on. Hitting the remote disconnect button turns it off and I have never had it do this other than just after the system comes up. I don't have...

    DC SFRA

Pinging again so that this does not get forgotten. It is very distracting to have the display pop all red shortly after takeoff from Dogwood (VA42).

No IAS taxiing under 20 Kts

A simple and exceptionally accurate method of verifying airspeed read out is it use a manometer. These are simple to build - requiring not much more that some tubing and a vertical board. Here is one link:http://www.iflyez.com/manometer.shtml Here is the PDF file for the airspeed...

    Transponder code reset

I note the transponder code does not go back to 1200 after you power down. Twice now after takeoff I got caught using the last code I had prior to landing. Recommend having the transponder reset to 1200 after power down.

    DC SFRA

Any updates to fixing the "just a big red blob" for the DC SFRA display? The red blob makes it very hard to use the moving map when flying into the SFRA. This fix is needed both for the SFRA as well as the outer 60nm radius "do not exceed 230 knots" area.

    Compass

The requirement it to have a magnetic heading reference. As such, the SkyView of course qualifies. Then however you have to deal with whomever is going to sign off the plane. I had my RV-10 done by the FAA FSDO office and before they showed up they sent me a list of "must haves". In addition...

    Heated pitot tube wiring

Scott, 18AWG is a little light. For wing wiring I run single three #20 conductor shielded wire for the AeroLED nav/strobes, #16 for landing light +12VDC, #16 for pitot heat +12VDC, a #22 for the pitot indication light and then a single #14 common ground wire for everything. I'm not of the...

    DC SFRA

DC SFRA and ADSB. Now flying with the Dynon ADSB and 5.0 software. All is good but another tweak on the ADSB TFR display would be nice for us guys flying near DC. While you all have fixed the SFRA display from the faint dotted yellow line to now using the same bold line like a Restricted...

    DC SFRA

Just loaded 5.0. Much better SFRA visibility.

    DC SFRA

The "SRFR_WARNING_UPDATE" is just a text document. Is installing this the same as any other update?

    DC SFRA

Glad to see I am not the only person to get tripped up on the "almost invisible dim/thin yellow SFRA line". Luckily I had the SFRA boundary on the Garmin 396 (temporary mount for WX until the ADSB receiver come out). So - no Blackhawks for me that day. The new bright/bold orange line you use...

    Fuel Timer

So, 20 hours on my RV-10 and so far I've not been able to remember and shift the fuel tanks every 30 minutes. Is there anyway to use one of the timers to kick out an EMS alarm or audio alert every 30 minutes?

    D10A TAS reads high

Kevin, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am using a spreadsheet to crank the GPS data. I also logged the D10A wind speed and direction for each leg. This shows a 10 knot or so error (D10A showing wind speed higher than actual). The GPS calculated winds aloft also compared favorably with the...

    D10A TAS reads high

Kevin, Here are the average values. At 4500' IAS = 183 knots OAT = 33F Altimeter = 31.2" From this data I compute TAS as 190 knots. Actual TAS from the 4 leg GPS run was 185 knots. From this I calculate a 4 knot IAS error (IAS reading higher than actual). TAS indicated on the D10A was...

    D10A TAS reads high

Thanks for the note. I agree on the RV static error issue. I installed a static fix on my plane last year as I had a 300' altitude error. The altitude error went away but it looks like I still have a small static error as IAS apprears to be high. I just did the math using IAS, altitude and...

    D10A TAS reads high

I repeated a four leg GPS run in my RV-8A today. The error I previously noted in the Dynon D-10A TAS indication has remained constant. The D10A TAS reading was 9 knots higher than actual at 4500 feet (194 versus 185) and 6 knots higher than actual at 7500 feet (191 versus 185). I checked the...
