In-Air Magnetic Calibration, how to do this?

Did it yesterday. Just like the instructions say - do a 360 degree turn to the left, then a 360 degree turn to the right, check the quality is about 100 and push finished. Took perhaps 10 minutes and it did make the heading more accurate.

    SkyView 12.0 Now Available

I would like to offer an observation on Vertical Power product. I agree that if one wishes to improve on typical spam can power distribution, and has deep pockets, the Vertical Power product is attractive. I offer however that while it advertises simplicity once you start to work around how...

    2 Screen Feedback

I do the same set up as Galin in my RV-10. On the co-pilot side I keep the EMS on the right side of the display all the time. The left co-pilot display is typically PDF unless cross country. This is where I look at the IFR/VFR charts and Map on long range to see the ADSB weather feed and...

    Devices offline and software mismatch????

The software mismatch problem returned twice today, again on the right display. The mismatch is again on both the roll and pitch servos (software version listed as 0.0 or such - and "needs update"). I did a restart of the right display and the problem went away. On the flight home the problem...

    Devices offline and software mismatch????

I had the same software mismatch on one of the two displays after loading 11.1. It happened only twice - but not right after loading 11.1. All was fine for several flights before this first popped up. No rhyme or reason. The first time I did a display restart and it went away. The second...

    Transponder output power

I assume you are using two separate transponder antennas. Swap the Dynon and Garmin transponder antenna leads to verify you do not have a bad antenna on the Dynon transponder. Do this swap at the transponder connections, not the antennas. That way you can eliminate a bad antenna coax...

    RF noise and Garmin 650

I've gone around the tree several times solving all the problems I've had with my GTN-650. After you do the normal stuff like making sure all your leads to the 650 and audio panel are shielded, your antennas are in fact tuned to the correct frequency (don't just install them - tune them as...

IFR Training and Practical Exam - Partial Panel

I did my IFR practical exam in my RV-10, dual 10" SkyView panel. I took some time to go over the aircraft power distribution, pointing out that each EFIS display and ADHRS received power from separate sources. I did this as a proactive step to avoid the "what happens if you loose all power"...

    2020 ADS-B compliant GPS source

Just curious if Dynon is looking to provide a ADSB compliant GPS receiver at some point. If so, does this then open the door for Dynon to go into the IFR certified GPS market and provide some healthy competition to the Garmin monopoly? I understand a hard answer is not possible - but perhaps...

First flight with SV - Comm radio blocks ADS-B

One other suggestion, mount your ADSB receiver next to the ADSB antenna if not already done. This should minimize noise cross talk. On my RV-10 the receiver is in the tail cone, antenna right below it on the belly. Carl

First flight with SV - Comm radio blocks ADS-B

You might want to monitor GPS signals when you do this test and see if there is an issue there as well. I would first do a simple swap of the GNS-430 comm antenna with the GNS-250 comm antenna and see if this changes the symptoms. If so, look for a bad antenna connector for feed line issue...

    apollo gx60 to skyview

Look on page 11-10 for the SkyView mode S XPDR install. This resistor is used in series from the GX-60 serial output to the XPDR serial input. You do not use a in series resistor for any other GX-60 serial connections. Carl

    lycoming tach sender for SV

A tachometer sender is not required or desired. You can use the magneto and the pMag tach output per the SkyView EMS installation instructions (section starts on page 7-36 for the rev 10 version. Carl

    apollo gx60 to skyview

Charles - email sent again. In the meantime here is a cut and paste of the information: 1. GX-60 Serial #2 out to SkyView, D10A, JPI fuel scan and XPDR (via 1.2K ohm resistor) 2. GX-60 Serial #2 ground (to SkyView ground connection) Serial information 1. SkyView Serial #1...

    apollo gx60 to skyview

Charles, Just finished back fitting a SkyView with GX-60 into an RV-8. Right now the GX-60 serial out does not interface with the SkyView, but just got a note from Dynon that Rev 11 fixes this issue. Send me an email address and I'll forward the wiring information. Carl

GTN series ARINC-429 - ADAHRS data?

On the other hand, if you enable auto sequencing you no longer can select VOR on the HSI when on a GPS flight path without punching buttons on the 650. I ended up with auto sequencing turned off.

    Seattle Avionics DataManager crashes Win7-64bit

I'm running a 64 bit machine with Windows 8.1. This last update I again killed several hours trying to get the Data Manager to work. This is what I ended up doing - so far it works: - Go to "options", then "advanced", then to "open the download folder on this PC. - Delete all files in the...
